Maybe We Could Make It Illegal To Sell Guns Anymore

I was just wondering if it would pass constitutional muster if we stopped the problem at the source. Could we make it illegal for gun makers to sell guns in the U.S.? We could let people keep the guns they have, but disallow the selling of guns, such as in pawn shops and gun shows. There are about 300 million guns in America already. Do we really need more?

:thatsright: No... that would be illegal on a shitload of levels.

3. How so?

We wouldn't be doing anything about their rights.

5. I thought about that. Maybe we could allow pawn shops to sell them. They would all be used guns, so it wouldn't have anything to do with the manufacture of new guns. We wouldn't regulate the sale of used guns much, just stopping new guns from entering the market.

11. I think the ATF could be expanded to bust that shit up.

Such a nice little fascist.

4. Be kind of rough for new shooters to get in the market.

No one would sell firearms they already had, so where would folks that wanted a personal protection device turn to?

7. That's the point.

We don't need anymore guns. We already have too many. We just need to stop new guns from being purchased.

Boy the dummies are all wired up with ideas, ain't they?

Dummies wanna make the sale of firearms illegal but want to legalize the sale of illegal drugs.  Ain't any wonder this country is ****ed up.

I had to go to Ilion NY for my job about 6 weeks ago, and the village leadership told me that Remington is looking to add 400 positions there.  Seems that their move of some firearms manufacturing to their plants in the South hasn't worked out as well for them as they hoped, and they're looking at bringing some back to the PRNY.

I expect it has a lot to do with tax breaks, NY has been giving out huge tax deals to get manufacturing industries back into the state...not that they've cut back any of their spending, so it's pretty much on the backs of all the existing taxpayers.  Since American corporations are by and large unable to look beyond five years in their ROI analysis decisions, and the deals are for up to ten years, it has a short-term appeal to both the incumbent government and the corporations, but in a large sense just rolls the snowball further up the hill, from which it will inevitably descend.

The reason I got from the people associated with the village government is that it has to do with quality control.  They had better QC in Ilion.

I'm sure that's the publicly-stated reason.  IMHO QC can be fixed a lot cheaper and quicker than manufacturing ops can be moved, at least in a right-to-work state.

I completely agree.

Nevertheless, if true, this statement makes me happy for the undoubtedly good folks of Ilion NY:
