ISIS drowning people slowly in cages, blowing them up, increasing barbarity
Throwing gay men off buildings. Beheadings
Doesn't seem to be big news anymore
Sick bastards
BUT- they aren't as bad as the Christians!

2. Given the chance, some in this country would do the same if not held in check. There is a hell of a lot of hatred in America against all sorts of people.
Most of it coming from the left towards everyone else.

3. The cons I know wouldnt kill Gay people, but they sure as hell would discriminate against them in every way possible, which is still legal in most places.
Conservatism is a disease And their ultimate desire is to make them 2nd class citizens or make them disappear
Yet--- your president and government just did this exact thing to Christians...
hmmm...

5. So Bush/Cheney's wars for oil and MIC profits, that they said was to bring democracy to the ME, in fact has blown those nations back to the Middle Ages and the era of the Spanish Inquisition.
Barry ****ed up the peace so bad it will take centuries of undoing. Yeah... BUSH is responsible for the exact same bullshit Islam has been pulling for the last 800 years.

19. Let the Saudis do it. We have sold then enough arms to start their own world war. Oh, but then I suppose the Saudi shitheels wouldn't want to attack their ideological bedmates. Never mind.
This is a disaster that is unfixable by any outsiders.
The Saudis, the commoners that is, support Wahhabism in an overwhelming majority. It's the royals keeping the extreme crazies in check in the Kingdom. ISIS and AQ are off-shoots of the Wahhabist sect. Iran and Syria are offshoots of the Shi'i sect.
Both want to destroy the west though.

10. This is "Mad Max/Road Warrior" reality.
This ISIL-thing started with an extended drought in Syria, food and water shortages, and a government that couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it for its people. No- it was going on for decades. The retreat of the US from Iraq simply ignited the latest disaster.
A little revolution, a lot of indiscriminate death, and here we are - shedding the vestiges of civilization, barbarity for personal survival, "religious" exploitation in justification, a reality of end-times apocalyptic vision.
I remember when Obama asked if maybe we should do something? And we said no...
Meanwhile, back in the USA, the west is running out of water, the government is rationing, impending crop disasters, diseases effecting our food chains...
And all we want to do is frack!
California is being destroyed by it's own hand. It needs no help from ISIS.

20. There should be a ban on discussing IS on DU. It cannot be discussed intelligently. IS is winning. They have the support of millions. And all their enemies suck also. Who should win this war? Hell if I know. Every side is horrible. Oh, but the Kurds you say? They are trying to carve out an ethno state a la Isreal. And when they take over a town the non Kurds are made to become refugees. But among the lot they are the most ok.
SAA will fight forever. Because a peace without them on top is genocide. IS has a coherent ideology, runs fairly efficiently and has mass support. Nusra is al quida. FSA is slowly merging with nusra. This fight will go on a minimum of 5 years, upper bound 15 more.
No... it will go on for many decades since we won't do anything and the rest of the world is too caught up in their own issues... Once Iran has the bomb things will only get worse.

22. All categories of international response to ISIS can be placed in one of two categories.
:-Those involving large numbers of Western ground troops.
:-Those not involving large numbers of Western ground troops.
I think that it is likely that any strategy in the former category will involve the West being drawn into a protracted, bloody, region-wide war with no end in sight.
I think it is likely that any strategy in the latter category will fail to contain ISIS, resulting in them growing, spreading, getting richer, more powerful and better armed, and committing more and worse atrocities.
Choose your poison :-s
When you have to chose between two losing options you have to find a third option.
I have one. People won't like it.
