2. Overweight is mainstream and always has been
It's only the young and temporarily thin who look down their long blue noses at their elders who have put on a few pounds, especially their female elders.
Fat shaming doesn't work, it only makes the targets depressed and that makes them put on more weight. So knock it off.
There is a huge difference between overweight and exogenous obesity--or morbid obesity for that matter. Data suggest older people who are overweight live longer than those who conform to insurance company "norms," possibly because energy reserves help them cope with illness or injury.
In any case, worthwhile humans come in all body types. Shutting people down because they don't conform to yours is a loser's game.
No Warpy shaming DOES work, it worked for hundreds of years. A parent telling a kid 'stop stuffing your face, and go outside and play' WORKED.
The problem is, you can't let your kids play in the front yard or anywhere on your property in a city, because you might have a nosy damn neighbor like YOU, Warpy call the cops and say that kids are in the street unattended.
It goes from there to when your an adult, if you don't have the habit of fitness, it can be challenging to develop the discipline, yes I used the dirty word DISCIPLINE, Warpy, to exercise regularly.
The reason obesity is more prevalent now, is because people do NOT move around as much as they used to. Plain and simple. They come home, and veg in front of the TV for hours. If you start moving again, yes it will be painful, but it becomes easier the MORE you do it. And the more you do it, the more you WANT to do it.
There is a poster in the gym I work out in. It states; 'We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline, or the pain of regret and disappointment'. I stare at it while I am on the versa-climber doing sets. It sums it up in a nutshell. So you can take your 'obesity is the new norm' B.S. and shove it.
