CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Brian Burke believes the Montreal Alouettes signing of Michael Sam is a tipping point in professional sports.

The DUmp is all happy a mediocre football player gets a job in the CFL. Normally they would not care who signed with the Alouettes (an alouette is that thing at the end of a shoe lace, right?) but because the player is teh ghey it is the greatest thing evah.

2. Jackie Robinson played in Montreal too

He played a year of Minor League ball up there before coming to the Dodgers. From all indications, he was treated just fine. And Jackie Robinson's career was pretty darn good. So maybe Sam can parallel Robinson except in football rather than baseball.

I'm sure there have been players, even some very good ones, who made it from the CFL into the NFL. I don't think Sams is that kind of good as a player. I could be wrong. But, yeah, this is being blown out of proportion for Sams' sexuality, not his skills as a player.

As for Jackie Robinson, most NL and AL players start their careers in the minors. Those who are good learn and move up, as Jackie Robinson did. Having him in Montreal avoided a lot of the separate facilities crap that would have complicated many minor league teams logistics. It was a shameful reality; in that respect there is no parallel to Sams. IOW, the Sams-Robinson analogy isn't analogous.

Jackie Robinson was a certifiably great baseball player who might have been even better if he didn't have all those Democrats yelling racial epithets at him and making threats. Michael Sam is mediocre in every possible sporting way, as evidenced by the fact that he has to go to Canada to play a facsimile of actual football. Liberals insult the memory of a baseball Hall of Famer by mentioning that ass-loving finocchio  in the same breath. He's going to get his ass handed to him even in Canada, and not the way he hopes, either.

Where/when anti-black racism was at its worst, in kept blacks mired in or near poverty, will small chance of escape. Many gays and lesbians are, to invoke one of Progs' favorite bogey(wo)men, 1%ers, or at least 10%ers. It's likely more complex than this, but at least one factor for most would have to be not having to invest $$ in children (housing, food, clothing, medical care, etc.).

Blacks faced real oppression and discrimination, so I have no trouble understanding why many blacks balk at gays' and lesbians' hijacking the Civil Rights movement.

Tebow is much more talented than Michael Sam... it's not even comparable.  Tebow led his team to a winning record and a playoff win.  Sam couldn't even sniff the practice squad.
