This McDonald's commercial offends me


They played it a lot during Football yesterday.

McDonald's sticking themselves into national tragedies, as if their sign is some kind of beacon of hope just turned my stomach.
 
I know they were going for the "We are America" vibe, no you are crappy food that makes people unhealthy and fat.
 
And your not a church, so the God stuff is nauseating.


(I know, what's the big deal, just a stupid commercial, but hey, sometimes you see something that just makes you vent, glad DU is here for that)

So they switched to the touchy-feely ads about all the wonderful things they do for America. This is a "jump the shark" kind of ad a company does when they don't have anything positive to say about their actual product.

I don't see the problem. As far as I can tell many of these were from local communities. Franchises are small businesses connected to the place they live, especially if it's a small town.

The content is more boomer and to a lesser extent gen-x fodder with that suburban Americana feel. They're still not getting the demographic they're supposed to be rebranding to try and reach.

I can see what they were trying to do, but they didn't quite hit it on the head. Like their food, it was a recognizable attempt at what it was supposed to be, but it seemed a bit off and wasn't very satisfying.

Over 99 billion served.  Quite an accomplishment considering that they did it without any help from marketing genius DUmmy herding cats.  I eat at McDonalds at least once every week.  My favorite menu item is the hazelnut iced coffee.

This is funny because the DUmmies always accuse conservatives about getting pissed off at those commercials showing multi-ethnic families. The truth is we don't notice them until they tell us we are outraged by them and then we go "meh".

This was my take as well. I can understand why DUmmies were bothered by it so much, it shows small businesses (the franchise) and small towns in a good light. They hate both with a passion.
