Tripped and fell into a mud puddle this morning.  Wearing dirty coveralls until I get back to the hotel.  Co-worker played a practical joke and set off my dosimeter, where I then got to spend a half-hour at the RP (rad protection) checkpoint being grilled.  Spending the better part of the afternoon working on a leaking transformer covered in oil and bird shit.

Life sucks.

That is all.

I hope it gets better Bud.

Man, what a rotten day.  I'm sore all over.  I forgot how much work it is to spend the day hanging off a fender... glad I don't have to do it for a living.

I am in a crappy mood. I could NOT get to sleep last night so I pulled down maybe 3 hours of Z time total.  I have a fair bit to do today getting ready for the trip but nothing really arduous.  The kids and my wife all got packed last night so I just need to bag my clothes and the "Utility" items for everybody.  Pepper Pup goes into the kennel later this morning and the kids go in for allergy shots this afternoon.

I used to love flying.  Back in the Dino Days I had 20 some odd hours of dual instructor time and actually was about to solo before life caught up with me and I have not been up in anything smaller than a regional jet or turboprop since. I have no freaking clue where my log book went as it disappeared in one of the moves. That being said I absolutely LOATH flying these days. When I was a kid it was really exciting! The food was halfway decent and it was this huge special thing.  I have done too much commercial air the last 10 or 12 years and the steady decline in service and the steady increase in bullshit hassle since 9/11 have sucked what joy there was out of it for me.

The flight portion of this is just 6 hours of travel in a cramped smelly tube with a layover to make things suckier. :p  My Mancub is still geeking on it though so it will be cool flying with him, which I have never done.  His mom has made two trips with him but this is my first. :)

Just looking forward to getting the bullshit portion of this over with and settling into the rental place in San Diego and unwinding a bit.

Sorryto hear that the flights sucked. Just be happy you have never had to fly in a C-130 packed wit hgear and people for 6+ hours on your way to Panama. I have a new respect for those old bomber pilots from WWII that flew from England to Germany in B-17's/B-24's without sound insulation like we had plus ear plugs.

Adios Muchachos!

See ya when I sees ya.

A suggestion for you, if I may--a couple of Mexican restaurants in the Point Loma area, if you happen to find yourself around the old Naval Training Center, specifically on Rosecrans Blvd., around Nimitz.

A few blocks north of Nimitz on Rosecrans is a place (hole in the wall, really) called Casa de Loma.

Best.  Enchiladas.  EVAR.  And the rest of the menu is awesome as well.

Failing that, or if you want something a bit more "fancy", might I suggest Miguel's?  They have one in Point Loma near the marina, or one over on Coronado.  The ceviche is killer, and everything there is very good.

:lmao: You are relentless, aren't you?!?

Jackson, TN Symphony Orchestra

And just for kickers:

Paducah, KY Symphony Orchestra

Mrs. E was principal and co-principal viola in both these orchestras and in the year I lived in Jackson, I played one gig on 2nd trombone.

Chances are real, real good she'd be able to get in and play again WITHOUT auditioning.

As for me, I'd just hang out on street corners wearing a long raincoat and no socks.  :evillaugh:

Okay, let's tick 'em off on OUR end of TN:

1.  Jackson, TN
2.  Paducah, KY
3.  Memphis, TN
4.  Nashville, TN
5.  Dyersburg, TN (Mrs. E and I play that orchestra only under aliases. It's really that bad - but it's a pay gig. And yes, we are musical sluts.  :-) )
6.  Huntsville, AL
7.  And let's not forget all the runouts that the string quartet and the brass quintet play, and the Symphony League little teas (oh, those are SO delightful, which explains why I hang out on street corners wearing long raincoats and no socks  :-) ).

Besides, like I tol' ya - Out on your end, that's too close to Dollywood.   :rotf:

We have Symphony League stuff....I'll have you know I hosted a Symphony League lunch for 3 years....these women actually paid $75 to come eat my food and decorate Ukranian Easter Eggs!! The year I was going through my divorce I didn't do it. I did it with 3 other women. That year it was written up on the whole front page of the LifeStyle section and the recipes were all in the inside. MY RECIPES!!! One of the women said they were HER FAMILY recipes. The bitch..... :maddernhell: She had the nerve a few years back to call me and ask me for one of the recipes.....she had lost it. Told her I had too. So sad, too bad.... :evillaugh: :censored:

People have weddings and stuff where they hire symphony members.
Mrs E could work at UT in the music dept.
The symphony has chamber concerts and pop concerts.

Johnson City has a symphony.

Why are you so worried about Dollywood?

There's no reason to even go near it. It's not like it's in the backyard. It's a 45 minute drive for me to get there depending on traffic. I think I've been there 3x's since it opened.

I do go up to the area..Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg...but I don't go to Dollywood.

Oops, I guess I forgot the "just razzing you" smiley.   :shucks:

Actually, I don't have a problem with the area at all. But I go where Mrs. E says where I go, especially when I hang up the pickle suit (so to speak) for good.

the lefties are pretty much in and around Memphis.

I'd say that that's because of the bbq, but that would be a lie. There are simply too many people there who have succumbed to the Kool-Aid.
