Wednesday. The Hump Day Cometh...
« on: February 25, 2009, 09:23:21 AM »
I am in a crappy mood. I could NOT get to sleep last night so I pulled down maybe 3 hours of Z time total.  I have a fair bit to do today getting ready for the trip but nothing really arduous.  The kids and my wife all got packed last night so I just need to bag my clothes and the "Utility" items for everybody.  Pepper Pup goes into the kennel later this morning and the kids go in for allergy shots this afternoon.

I used to love flying.  Back in the Dino Days I had 20 some odd hours of dual instructor time and actually was about to solo before life caught up with me and I have not been up in anything smaller than a regional jet or turboprop since. I have no freaking clue where my log book went as it disappeared in one of the moves. That being said I absolutely LOATH flying these days. When I was a kid it was really exciting! The food was halfway decent and it was this huge special thing.  I have done too much commercial air the last 10 or 12 years and the steady decline in service and the steady increase in bullshit hassle since 9/11 have sucked what joy there was out of it for me.

The flight portion of this is just 6 hours of travel in a cramped smelly tube with a layover to make things suckier. :p  My Mancub is still geeking on it though so it will be cool flying with him, which I have never done.  His mom has made two trips with him but this is my first. :)

Just looking forward to getting the bullshit portion of this over with and settling into the rental place in San Diego and unwinding a bit.

Have a great trip and safe travels, asdf!! Keep us posted if you can on what all you are doing.

Going out to do some drivebys, and an interior on one of my listings that was being renovated. It's all done...78,900 and can't even get a call on a cute 3br,1ba house with a new kit and bath  :banghead:. and take my client to lunch. Going to a Mexican restaurant and I can't eat eat today... :bawl:

But the temp is going up to the low 50's today....yippee!!!!!

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Hey asdf, you were talking about doing some ship tours while you're there.
The USS Midway is there, and it's a cool tour.

I totally agree with BC, make sure you see the Midway.  It's amazing!!  And find your way to Richard Walker's for breakfast.  It'll change your life ;)  lol   :-)

Fantastic News!

Hopefully this will be the last job switch you have to make for a LONG while.

Try to get in good with management when you start. If your boss has a picture of his wife in his office pass him a compliment on her rack or an appreciatory observation on how she must be a handfull in the sack. If you are working for a woman asking her where she gets her control top panties because you want your wife to look as nice as she does is a winner.

Seriously, congrats and good luck!  :cheers1:

Congrats, Thor!

ASDF, flying sucks.

I'm enjoying Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the annual Lenten Journey.    :innocent:

Have a good time on your trip, asdf...flying aint ALL bad, just 90%...but it's better than being stuck in a bus ofr hours on end!

My Wednesday is looking pretty good so far (though no one cares about m new shoes!  :bawl:      :-))  I'm heading to the library in a few minutes, and after that I might take a walk, since it's actually above 35 today!

Trying to think of something for dinner tonight...not having much luck tho.

I'm having a pretty good day.  The books I ordered from Amazon are supposed to arrive today.  :)

I have a bit of work, but I think it'll be all good.  Oh and the final grades are posted in two of my classes (both As).  I got a 106 on my accounting final, I don't know how, but I ain't complaining.   :-)

Meh. The day has not been great. But I'm grateful to be employed, so I'm not complaining too much.

Lots of technical issues at work causing a lot of people grief. They yell at me as though I'm responsible. Like I could be trusted with that much power.  :-)

I don't usually post much in these "daily account" threads, but I thought I'd jump in with an interesting bit from last week.

Plus, I'm truly glad for Hammer-man that he's got the gig he sought. Cool beans!

Anyway, as Hammer-man knows, I am a musician - used to do it in the Army, but found I couldn't put the horns down afterwards. Kept it up over the years, especially while Mrs. E and I lived in NE Ohio. But when we moved to north-central Missouri in July 07, all that music pretty much came to a screeching halt.

I played some bass trombone for a couple of civic orchestras on a per-service basis, but euphin' was relegated for church and church only.

Major bummer.

But last week I began playing with an 8-piece brass ensemble (with me it becomes a 9-piece) and I gotta say I thoroughly enjoyed that. Started practicing again and it won't take long till the euph chops are back. I'll be playing some bass trombone as well (I call him "The Howitzer") so all is well.

I didn't realize I missed it as much as I did till I started again.

Euph, that is cool.  And, Thor, as I said in the shoutbox, congrats!

And, as Splashdown and Deb alluded to, it's Ash Wednesday.  Giving up a few things for Lent--hopefully, I'll be able to stay off them throughout.  Swearing at DUmmies, though, might not make the cut.  :o

On a side note I had to carry the puppers off into, albeit a nice one, a doggy jail this morning. :(

Paid for some extra services for her but when we walked into the kennels and 20 or 30 dogs started barking she tried to implode in my arms.  And when I set her down in the run and started arranging her stuff and turned to go she gave me this look.

Like "HA ha, ha! He's not gonna, wait... hey! Nah... He wouldn't... HAY! HAY YOU FORGOT ME!!!!"

Damn dog has been an absolute dear here the last month and I feel like a traitor leaving her there. :(

Tripped and fell into a mud puddle this morning.  Wearing dirty coveralls until I get back to the hotel.  Co-worker played a practical joke and set off my dosimeter, where I then got to spend a half-hour at the RP (rad protection) checkpoint being grilled.  Spending the better part of the afternoon working on a leaking transformer covered in oil and bird shit.

Life sucks.

That is all.
