Do you eat it side-to-side or up-and-down?
I'm a side-to-side.
Damn. Should have made this a poll.
-
It's not too late!
Up and down.
-
Side to side. But do you start at the big end or the smaller end?

Smaller end. It gives me something to hang on to so I can finish the rest of the cob.
-
Fork and a knife -civilized
-
Side to side, starting at the big end.
-
I eat my corn on the cob in the moonshine.

See, with the drill, you don't have to be concerned about dropping it. That's why I do up-down so I get at least one side to hang on to without getting butter all over my hands.

:lmao:
Side to side, like a typewriter, small end first. I don't worry about getting butter on my hands.
I don't care for it grilled, I prefer boiled/simmered.

^ what she said....cut it off with the knife, eat it with the fork.

Up and down.......................oh, corn you say? NM.

BINGO!

Soaked in butter with lots of salt and pepper.
Big end left hand, little end right hand, nibble 3 to 4 rows of kernels at a time right to left, rotate and repeat.

I had some Sweet Silver Queen corn straight out of the garden for supper. Yum, Yum.

BTW, how do you'll cook the ears, I NEVER boil it I steam it and do not loose flavor in the cooking water.

The best corn on the cob I ever had was steamed in the shuck in a barrel.....just pull the shuck back and use it for a handle, butter, salt and pepper it...chow down.

Actually this time around, I cooked it in the microwave (in the shuck) for 4-5 minutes. It was excellent!

Me too - it's the only way. Too bad I didn't learn this trick till just a few years ago. I run the whole cob under water for a minute, then it steams in the microwave for 4 mins. Then (very easily) turn down the leaves and corn silk into the perfect handle. :-)
-
I met a nice girl at a corn boil, hours later I had corn on the knob.

I've never heard of that way but it sounds like the grill method, in tinfoil, while still husked -I will try it

Will sometimes wrap in wax paper and do in microwave if I'm only doing a couple of ears.
