May you rest in peace,my dear Redstone...
Last night I got a phone call from a dear close friend of Redstone...
He died in his sleep last Tuesday night.
What a man he was! Funny, wicked funny, and smart, compassionate, intelligent beyond belief...and so much more.
His loss will be felt forever by his wife, and his sons, and by us.
Who among us did not relish his stories, his calm way of seeing events? I always felt so happy to see him posting, for I knew that there would be good things to absorb and ponder in his threads...
I don't know exactly how old he was, but I don't believe he was even 60...too soon, always too soon...
Our phone calls were not frequent, but they were memorable. I was honored to hear him laugh...
My heart overflows with tears...
Rest in peace, my dear Redstone...the world is diminished with your passing...

If this is indeed not a bouncy from the CalPig primitive, all I really have to say is; R.I.P Redstone. Thoughts, and prayers to your friends, and family.
-
I'll not dance on his grave, but he was such a dead-ender and so full of mindless rage and stupidity that I can't say it's any loss to the world of the living.
-
RIP Redstone and my sympathy for his friends and family who are grieving.
-

My sentiments exactly.
Rest in peace, but really, his Hate and rage and anger didn't do a whole lot of good in this world.

It actually came as quite a shock to me to see a thread on the passing of the bird smacking, red faced primitive. Would have never expected it on a pleasant Football Sunday.
Life is chalk full of surprises.
-
Condolences to his family and friends as they grieve, regardless of differences about things never would add hurt to anyone dealing with a loss.

"Football Saturday" was yesterday, sir.
Anyway.
I'm sad because Chief S itting Bull, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, never got around to answering a particular question of mine. I always thought it was a very important question, and one that Redstone should contemplate upon, when examining himself and his conduct.
As many here know, Redstone was, the last several years of his life, afflicted with some sort of neuro-muscular degenerative condition, which greatly inhibited his physical skills and I'm sure more than that, emotionally and intellectually vexed and frustrated him.
Not to mention he drank like a fish.
It was all very sad, but excresence happens to all men.
Redstone however seemed fixated with this idea that Hate, rage, and anger would help him deal with that.
For years, I repeatedly kept asking how that works, but never got an answer.
And now alas we'll never know.
-
May God Bless Redstone and his family.
-
Prayers for Redstone's family, and for God's mercy on Redstone.

Dunno what he would have said, but I've had the same feelings a portion of my life, and my answer would be: It doesn't, but it's still there.
Not sure what he would have said, and as you said...we'll never know.
-

Of course it's still there, in both you and I, sir; after all, we're human.
But Redstone seemed the type who actually believed he had everything all figured out, and so I was always intensely curious; how does Hate, rage, anger, and a foul explosive temper help one deal with a handicap?
I never found such a pissy negative resentful attitude about it to help me, but perhaps Redstone knew; maybe I was doing something wrong, and he could've illuminated us.
-
Well, if he had everything all figured out, he should have illuminated his fellow DUmors, and in turn, illuminated us.
I fear something is wrong here... ;)
-

I suspect in the end, Redstone figured it out that he didn't have a damned thing figured out.
And therein lies the tragedy of Redstone.
One reasonably assumes the Mercy and Compassion of God has made Redstone whole now, but damn, I would've appreciated an answer in this time and place.
-
I suspect in the end, Redstone figured it out that he didn't have a damned thing figured out.
Exactly what I meant, Frank. He's square with the house now though, so I hope whatever transgressions were with him weren't too bad to not be forgiven. Y'know. we observe the primitives from afar, but I don't think a single one of us wishes them ill when news like this breaks. I can't say the same if the situations were reversed.
-
Y'know,we observe the primitives from afar, but I don't think a single one of us wishes them ill when news like this breaks.
Right; this is very sad news, and one feels for Redstone's survivors.
I can't say the same if the situations were reversed.
But of course that presupposes that what the primitives, or what decent and civilized people, think about one is important or relevant.
franksolich doesn't lose half a second's worth of sleep worrying about what the primitives are going to say about him when his own time comes. Or for that matter whatever anybody else says. The primitives can feel free to dance on my grave, for all I care.
Death is a pretty Separating thing, taking us away from this time and place to the Eternal one.
Once one leaves this time and place, what God thinks about one is the only thing that matters.
-
Condolences and prayers for those grieving. RIP.
-
Must have been a shock to wake up next to a corpse. Condolences to Mrs. Redstone.
-
That thread is full of people saying what a great guy he was.
I wonder if they read any of his posts.
-
I hope he made sure his family was taken care of.
-
If the bastard is dead, the world's a better place for it.
Since the news came from the CalPig, the chance it's true is well below 50%.
-
Whoops, didn't see the sticky! I agree with GOBUCKS, CalPeg is probably getting punked by TominTib.
-
That thread is full of people saying what a great guy he was.
I wonder if they read any of his posts.
You know, though, sir, something concerns me very much.
You might recall the vast outpouring of grief and sorrow among the primitives, upon the passing of Khephra and the late red round one; lots and lots of campfires burning brightly and long for days, about them.
The passing of Redstone's excited lots of primitive comments, but not when compared with those two.
And the truth is, Redstone was a better personage, a stronger (in a perverse way) personage, a brighter and more creative personage, than both the squigy fat boys put together and multiplied ten times.
-
If the bastard is dead, the world's a better place for it.

Ya know its sad to say, but I agree with you. DUmmies lie so often that it's hard to know when they speak the truth.
That said, my sympathies go out to those who grieve in his passing.
-
It's very sad.
Already, the campfires commemorating Redstone are dying out.
It's nothing like the flames that blazed for days and days, for the two fat boys.
Alas! poor Redstone! alas!
Already being forgotten a few hours later!
-
RIP Redstone, and condolences to his family.
I hope in the end he was able to cast off the hate and anger that filled him. May God have mercy on his soul.
-
I hope his family find peace and comfort in the knowledge that that angry son of a bitch has gone on to a better place. All is forgiven in Christ. Through Christ, we are all forgiven.
-
If Redstone's not in Hell, the place is a ghost town.
-
Must have been a shock to wake up next to a corpse. Condolences to Mrs. Redstone.
I know a guy who claims he does that every day. :naughty:
Do they have a best of Redstone collection up yet?
-
Do they have a best of Redstone collection up yet?
Are you kidding?
Barely twelve hours into the news, and the primitives already seem to have forgotten.
-
Redstone's timely demise has all the earmarks of a TomInTib black op.
TiTtyboy once travelled coast-to-coast on a mission intended to extract money from his old buddy, his old pal, his old partner in music and illegal drugs.
By all indications, DUmmy Redstone told him to piss up a rope.
A fake ex-Seal never forgets.

Wasn't Redstone the DUmmie that was always falling down and breaking various bones? It seems like he was very accident prone.
That was him, Chief S itting Bull.
By the way, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive was 57 years old, leaves behind him a wife and two sons, and the services are on Tuesday, November 8.

Oh my.
I'm sure some here might remember when Redstone talked about this on Skins's island:
Crusader Seeks To Rid His Town Of Street Spam
February 6, 2002
By CLAUDIA VAN NES, Courant Staff Writer
OLD SAYBROOK -- [Redstone] grabs his pliers and utility knife and half-jokes to his wife Shirley he's "going out to get 'em."
With a swift tug, a blaringly yellow sign with thick black lettering: "Work at Home" is torn from a utility pole along Boston Post Road and stuffed in [Redstone]'s car trunk. The same fate awaits an identical sign farther along the road.
"They're ugly litter and no one has a right to make this town ugly," says [Redstone] who at 6 feet 4, with thick dark hair in a pageboy, a walrus mustache, a Stetson on his head, cowboy boots on his feet and a colorful way of talking has a certain buccaneer style befitting his crusade.
Since last summer, when he'd finally "had it" looking at the proliferation of "Work at Home" and "Lose 30 Pounds in 30 Days" placards plastered along busy streets everywhere, [Redstone] has ripped down more than 1,000 signs.
He's got the law on his side. A 53-year-old state statute prohibits postings on power poles or anywhere else on public land and so does a 21-year-old town ordinance.
In fact, according to the lively Dallas-based website, Citizens Against Ugly Street Spam, similar laws as well as the common law of the land make these signs illegal everywhere.
[Redstone], 48, is a director of the street spam group and a frequent contributor to the website's rabble-rousing chatroom.
More than 90 percent of the signs, usually made of corrugated, non-recyclable plastic bought for about $3 each, are put up by people connected to Herbalife.
This international company, based in Los Angeles, is a 20-year-old giant among multilevel sales operations. Its products are dietary supplements but the signs posted on utility poles don't mention a company; they either promise quick weight loss or an at-home business with a phone number or website to contact.
These websites that open with pictures of sports cars, speedboats, Florida mansions and smiling people, don't mention a product or company, either. They instead urge you to call or sign up for more information, but [Redstone] and others have traced the signs to Herbalife.
While he is not an admirer of this particular business, [Redstone] said he doesn't care if the signs advertised "Mother Teresa's favorite charity. They're still ugly." And, he adds, he started his own advertising business, [Redstone] Communications, in 1991 "with $700 in the bank and a Sears credit card to buy the Mac and I didn't plaster signs up everywhere. Why should anyone think they have the right to?"
[Redstone] has been able to obtain e-mail addresses and phone numbers for some of the people who've put up signs but even so he said he seldom gets them on the phone. Mainly, he leaves messages telling the offenders they've broken the law and that he will continue to tear down their signs whenever he sees them - usually along the shoreline between Niantic and Branford.
The "street spam" is put up at night mainly on Fridays and Saturdays and neither [Redstone] nor the Old Saybrook police has ever spotted a perpetrator.
[Redstone] was too busy on Saturday to deal with several new "Work at Home" signs he spotted on Main Street. On Sunday, when he returned to remove them, "miracle of miracles," they were gone, he said.
Those signs, it turns out, were taken down by the police who'd gotten a call from First Selectman Michael Pace.
"I can't stand those things," he said, although he advises people to call the police as he did and not take the law into their own hands.
Sgt. Cliff Barrows agreed Tuesday, saying the police take down these placards and other such signs and warn people, including those putting up tag sale signs in public places, that it is illegal. A $50 fine could be levied, according to the state statute and town ordinance, though Barrows said he doesn't think one has ever been issued.
The poles used in this area are owned by either Southern New England Telephone Co. or Connecticut Light and Power but the utilities don't enforce the law.
"That's up to the authorities. We do periodically remind customers not to post anything on the poles because the nails can be dangerous to linemen," Carla Francis, spokesperson for Northeast Utilities, said Tuesday.
"We've tried to call some of the numbers on the signs but didn't get them on the phone. It's not our top priority; our business is to keep the power on," Francis said.
It is a priority of [Redstone]'s, however. "Once I get my teeth into something, I don't let go," he said.

3. "In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the family."
Like most DUmmies, he spent his life on drugs and envy of decent and civilized people. Security for his family wasn't a priority.
A similar situation will occur when Taverner one day soon scores some junk more potent than usual.

Rest in Peace Red! I hope you have found the peace you were looking for.

Rest in peace, but really, his Hate and rage and anger didn't do a whole lot of good in this world.
Maybe he's finally at peace in the next life.
Sorry for his family and friends; at the end of the day what we say matters little, it's how we impact the lives around us.

Maybe he finally succumbed to the injuries he deservedly received in his drunken election night brawl.

Maybe he finally succumbed to the injuries he deservedly received in his drunken election night brawl.
That was a classic, those fisticuffs when he shot off his mouth election night to the wrong person.
It took him a long time to recover; he was beat up pretty bad.

No doubt. The details of his inevitable passing are foretold every night in urban police blotters.

Does this free him up to go on uber secret covert operations for the US Government. Him and Tom can team up to be a super zombie hit squad taking out right wing leaders. It could never be traced back to obama.

What words do you want to have carved on your gravestone?
I figure if I go relatively soon, "You knew I was too good to last, didn't you?" ought to cover it; or conversely if I make it to 90 or so, "They were right about only the good dying young" would catch the random cemetery visitor's attention.
Your ideas?

6. I was shooting pool at the Rec Center here in town. There were a half-dozen teenagers sitting at one of the tables, and one of them must have been huffing glue or something; the kids in this town are for the most part good kids and real polite. But this one was "**** this, **** that, **** the other mother****ing thing" loudly, and when the woman who works at the rec center went over and told him to leave (there were younger kids in the room too), he told her "**** you, bitch," and pushed her. I walked over and said "you need to leave now" and he took one of those retracting flat box-cutter things out of his pocket and said "**** you too" while coming toward me, so I speared him in the gut with the pool cue, then broke the fat end of the cue across his face. He dropped like a stone, the cops came and took him to the hospital, asked everyone questions, thanked me for making sure he didn't cut anyone though at the same time telling me I should have called them first, like there was time for that. I checked later and he only has a broken nose so at least I didn't crack his skull, and I'm glad for that. It's been a long damn time since I've done anything like that and it was indeed self-defense, there wasn't a damn thing else I could have done, but still did not make for the best day. Thanks for listening.

Redstone talks himself out of suicide (January 2008)

OK, enough of this "suicide" nonsense. Just enough.
(Except for Mrs Grumpy, who is from this moment exempt from any commentary from me that might bother her or make her feel worse, because Lord knows I'd never want to add to her burden.)
God damn it.
You may have had those thoughts.
You may have tried it.
But as long as you have even ONE living relative, friend, or any other person who would miss you if you were gone before you should have been, you CANNOT punk out on those people.
No, you have to stay here and suffer with the rest of us. Like it or not.
Get used to that concept, because it's not going to go away.
I'm here at 2:17 in the morning because I can't sleep. The pain won't let me. But I'll be *******ed if I'll release myself from that pain and by doing so make others suffer worse pain in the aftermath. I will not.
Nor should you.
I've carried four words with me for years, whenever I was crossing a bridge: I have a family.
I'll bet that you do too.

I would bet that even the most gullible DUmmie on Skins Island recognized that this is a complete work of fiction. They just couldn't say it out loud because, to do so, would be to question the integrity of a prominent DUmbass. So they heap praise and pretend to empathize in order to remain safely within the herd.

I'm not sure I doubt Chief S itting Bull's DU suicide note thingy talking himself down, but holy crap! That's fairly disturbing. If you don't know that it isn't rational to post something like that on an internet forum...well, I don't know what to day. There are no words.
I've never seen that before, but I feel just the tiniest, slightest bit of pity welling up in my stomach like a tiny knot. Wow.

Well, I looked for something, and couldn't find it--quite obviously, I found a whole lot else, but never mind--because one of Redstone's legends always sort of bothered me.
He claimed to have worked for a private military contractor in Vietnam.
But he was born, apparently, in 1954.
The U.S. was involved in Vietnam--involved in things that would require contractors--until 1973.
It's my understanding that private military contractors hire ex-military, guys who've been in the service a few years. Generally, guys bordering on middle age.
Redstone seems to have been too young for that sort of thing.
I dunno.

14. And I wasn't EVEN a damn soldier! People don't know how damn many wars there were over there;
I was in one of them that never hit the newspapers; I was a civilian employee of a company under contract to the Air Force, and found myself in a combat situation for which I had agreed with the company that employed me might happen, but you kmow that $1500 per month was damn good money in 1972, so it was a chance that a 19-year-old might take.
Then things took a wrong turn. I'll try to not dream of that night tonight.

There are lots, and I do mean lots, of DUmmies that are totally alienated from their families. They hate the holiday season because they're not invited to any family functions. They have a 'Celebrate New Years Eve alone" thread every year. They have nowhere to go. They have no friends. Their hate has driven everyone away. They post threads about a sibling or parent that have passed away several months prior and were not informed. For many, the only social interaction they get is from posting at the DUmp. That's it. When they die, the only way they are found is because they get ripe.

This poem reminds me of Redstone.
"Miniver Cheevy" by Edwin Arlington Robinson
Miniver Cheevy, child of scorn,
Grew lean while he assailed the seasons;
He wept that he was ever born,
And he had reasons.
Miniver loved the days of old
When swords were bright and steeds were prancing;
The vision of a warrior bold
Would set him dancing.
Miniver sighed for what was not,
And dreamed, and rested from his labors;
He dreamed of Thebes and Camelot,
And Priam's neighbors.
Minever mourned the ripe renown
That made so many a name so fragrant;
He mourned Romance, now on the town,
And Art, a vagrant.
Minever loved the Medici,
Albeit he had never seen one;
He would have sinned incessantly
Could he have been one.
Miniver cursed the commonplace
And eyed a khaki suit with loathing;
He missed the mediæval grace
Of iron clothing.
Miniver scorned the gold he sought,
But sore annoyed was he without it;
Miniver thought, and thought, and thought,
And thought about it.
Miniver Cheevy, born too late,
Scratched his head and kept on thinking;
Miniver coughed, and called it fate,
And kept on drinking
RIP Redstone. Comfort to whomever mourns.

No matter how much we don't like someone. When they die someone in the world is going to be in anguish because of it. RIP.
Yeah, thank God Clara Hitler wasn't alive in 1945 to see what horrible things happened to her little boy.

As a result, in lieu of flowers the family requests you send your twenty bucks to his widow.

Hmmm! Looks like TominTib posted something!
Hey, Buddy, if you are reading this...
I was listening to Peter Rowan sing 'Walls of Time' on Prairie Home Companion last night when I called your house to tell you to turn it on.
You were already gone... but we'll be there, won't we? I'll bring some guitars with me.

Okay, okay, which one of you pricks posted under Skimmer's name?
Aside from impersonating Skimmer, Redstone's whole "condolences" thread at the newspaper is DUmpmonkeys.

Probably a whole more sighs of relief than tears in his own neighborhood.

Not I said the mole.
I used my own name, which stinky referred to as a failed car company. I also mentioned God.
I wanted to see if they could persuade the funeral home to start deleting memorials as they knew they had been invaded.
Nothing yet.
-
Just checking in on this. Wow. I guess all of that Hate caught up, didn't it?
Condolences to his family.

I'm honestly shocked. I would have never expected this event to gather so many comments. I knew when I posted it that it would get some attention, because after all, it IS Chief S itting Bull, but wow.
The guy did have somewhat of a following. For that, maybe he can be happy with himself. Enjoy your tribute, Redstone.

You probably missed most of the craziness that happened during Bush's two terms. DU gave monkeyhouses a bad name and Redstone was right up there with the rest of the psychos. Now it's mostly infighting and squabbling. Before Obama, it was truly nasty.

I really try hard not to speak ill of the dead, and my condolences to RedStone's survivors, but this really stuck out at me: "In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the family."
WHO does that? Maybe it is a Southern thing, but, in lieu of flowers is almost always followed by a request of a donation to a charity, or perhaps to a college fund for young children if the deceased passed in a tragic event.

I dunno how it is in Connecticut, but out here in the Sandhills, that sort of request is pretty common.
Usually it means the family needs help with funeral expenses, but given the circumstances, no one thinks badly of it.

Fair enough, sir. Again, it must be a regional thing.

What I find odder than that is that Redstone passed on to God on November 1, and his funeral is November 8, a week later.
Again, I dunno how it is in Connecticut, but it seems de rigeuer here in the middle of America, that a funeral is held within two full days after death.
I've had experience in this matter; the experience of interring two parents and seven siblings. I checked things, and found out that in every single case, nine deaths over a period of 27 years, the funerals were always two full days after death, never any longer than that. Every single case.
And a check of the obituaries in today's newspapers show the same practice universally followed.
I've been told the only reason a funeral would be held later than that is because law-enforcement has an "interest" of some sort in the body.
-
Fair enough, sir. Again, it must be a regional thing.
Well, but if that's the case, Redstone ill-prepared his family for his demise, if they have to solicit donations to help with funeral expenses (which they might, or might not, be doing here).
-

I've seen it here quite often. Sometime following an unexpected death of a child, but more often for someone that has suffered from a long term illness such as cancer which has left the family with huge medical bills.

Yeah, that too.

When my father passed a little over 3 years ago we found out that the life insurance policy that we all thought he had was no longer any good. When the company he retired from went under we found out that even though his pension was funded ALL life insurance policy's were cancelled. We had to do the same thing to help paying for his final expenses.
-
Here in the South it's common to ask for donations instead of flowers if someone is cremated. As for the length of time between death and funeral or service, that does seem unusual.
What I find strange is the obit was so short. Here, everyone related to the deceased is listed including brothers and sisters. He owned a business. That wasn't noted.
Something else has me curious. If Tom the liar had not phoned him, would his wife have logged in to DU to tell anyone ? Knowing he posted there regularly you'd think she would have told someone. He called DUmp people. Did she not know ?

That's why there shouldn't be any negativity associated with such a request.
Excresence happens.
But for someone who lived life as if he "had it all figured out," Redstone blew this one, if this is the case (the family needing help with funeral expenses), which it might, or might not, be.
-
I guess all that talk about buying the bed and breakfast place wasn't true.

On the matter of obituaries, it's probably a personal preference.
My own will, for example, notes that for my own obituary, I wish just my full name, date and place of birth, and date and place of death, be given, nothing else. It's because of my ancient Roman Catholic tenet that what passes in this world is unimportant; all That Counts is the Eternal world.
On the third point you made, I too am curious.
The primitives always make allegations of being a close-knit group, best buds and all that, but for all the communication they actually do in real life (Doug's stupid ex-wife for example never actually met the red round one in real life), there might as well be a six-foot-thick solid steel wall between them.
That the CalPig primitive, who was deeply fond of Redstone, learned only six days after the event, speaks volumes.

No, we don't, and probably won't ever know.
But it's a good guess.
-
Know that for sure?
Obviously, no, I wasn't there.
But for years, in addition to his hateful political comments, and his violent, lying braggadocio, DUmmy Deadstone has posted constantly about being in constant physical and psychological pain, and discussing suicide.
I'm sure his whining about pain, a very common DUmpmonkey characteristic, was mainly aimed at getting attention and was unlikely to be true in any way, but it's a clue to mental instability that could lead to an irrational act like suicide.

Agreed; point well made.
It's possible.

DUmmies are too selfish to kill themselves. They can't wait for that next handout, freebie, or empty promise from DC... it's what gets them up in the
morning afternoon.
-
All of my family members funerals took place about a week or so from the date of death. They all seem to be buried in Missouri, and no living member of the family resides in the state, so it takes a while for us to make plans, and travel arrangements.
-
I've seen it here quite often. Sometime following an unexpected death of a child, but more often for someone that has suffered from a long term illness such as cancer which has left the family with huge medical bills.
Well from what i remember i believe Redstone had MS. Also not a cheap disease to have. May also be why the funeral is so delayed as well they may be doing an autopsy.
-
Didn't he admit to downing at least a pint of hooch daily near the last few months until his banning over at DU?

Well, given that someone who meant a great deal to Redstone, the CalPig primitive, wasn't told until long after the event, given that the funeral's being held so late, and given that Redstone quite often exhibited loud, blatant, self-destructive tendencies on Skins's island, that was my first thought upon getting the news; possibly a suicide.
Redstone had been deteriorating much recently, but there was always a certain primitive (I forget the name) who posted updates on how Redstone was doing--perhaps the same primitive who finally got around to telling the CalPig primitive--who gave the impression he was always in touch with Redstone in real life.
But there hadn't been any updates from this reporting primitive for a while, suggesting that while he wasn't getting any better, Redstone wasn't declining precipitously either.
All which leaves one with the impression the death was a sudden unexpected unpleasant surprise.
I'm sure if it'd been by crime and violence--and remember Redstone courted those sorts of things--it would've been in the newspapers, and reported on Skins's island within hours of it being in the newspapers.
Which leaves only one reasonable conclusion. And given his degenerative neuro-muscular ailment, Redstone probably, like the late Tangerine LaBamba, had plenty of drugs on hand that if too many were taken, whether by accident or on purpose.....
-
Didn't he admit to downing at least a pint of hooch daily near the last few months until his banning over at DU?
Redstone was never banned; he just sort of slowly walked away from Skins's island.
But again, yes, alcohol plus the drugs he was taking for treatment of his ailment.....
-

Ah, okay. I thought he had it out one day with $kins or SquirrelG.
-

I think you're confusing Deadstone with TiT.
TiT claimed more like a quart of gin every night.
The main reason for this claim was so he could specify that he would only drink Bombay Sapphire.
An expensive label like that always seemed unlikely for a retail clerk in a trinket/lawn ornament shop.
TiT was tombstoned after a drunken anti-semitic rant. Drunken anti-semitic rants are not permitted at Skimmer's DUmp.
Sober anti-semitic rants are common and encouraged.
-
Over the years Redstone posted of mixing vicodin and vodka or vicodin and Maker's Mark, chasing that with Ambien. Year after year, month after month, week after week, day after day probably more than once a day eventually builds up in your system and becomes toxic. Not to mention making you an addict.
One day your heart stops, your breathing stops or your liver falls apart.
-
I realize the topic of a primitive dying is a rather sensitive subject here, especially if, like the late red round one, a primitive doesn't exactly go out in a blaze of glory. To some, it might seem as if we're dancing on a primitive's grave, and so it doesn't look good for this side. I beg to differ.
I'm speaking as a member here, not as a moderator, because I dunno what the official position of conservativecave is, on the issue.
Redstone has gone to God; no human agency can possibly hurt him.
Redstone's family and friends are still around, and undoubtedly in a world of hurt--but that hurt, if there, was caused by Redstone, not by anyone else, least of all ephemeral beings on the internet.
The only people who could possibly be "hurt" by a discussion of Redstone's death are the primitives on Skins's island, such "wounded feelings" being nothing more than hypocritical feigned indignation.
And so it seems eminently fair to discuss a primitive's death in a clinical, detached manner.
As mentioned before, from the minute the CalPig announced the death of Redstone, I immediately suspected suicide, either accidental or planned.....leaning more towards the former than the latter.
Redstone was not a phenomenon new to me; I've seen his sort before, and their ends.
Redstone, usually a hyperenergetic person, was getting vexed and frustrated at the encroaching limitations on his physical movements and functions. It's not easy, not even for a primitive, to adjust to ever-diminishing abilities to be active.
Redstone, who had some sort of degenerative neuro-muscular ailment, was on several different pharmaceutical drugs, and being human, Redstone probably miscalculated his doses now-and-then.
Redstone was self-admittedly a hardcore alcoholic.
I can easily see where Redstone either took too many drugs, or took drugs and then sucked on the bottle, thus passing out of this world into the Eternal one. I can "sort of" see where Redstone might have deliberately done this, but I suspect "accidental" is more reasonable than "on purpose."
I've seen it before, and in fact suspect it happens more than most really realize, this screwing up on medications or mixing medications with alcohol, coming to a bad end.
None of this "judgement" is a reflection on the good and bad qualities of Redstone; simply a detached clinical speculation of what happened.
-
He had spoken of separation/divorce several times. The fact that he was jealous to a fault didn't help matters any. It might have been a catalyst to his being planted.
We'll never know.
-

Well, Deadstone could write clearly, like his alleged pal TiT, and that placed him in a tiny minority of DUmbasses.
If he had another good quality, it was never revealed at the DUmp.
He was a hateful, lying, despicable person.

I wrote this poem for you, Redstone.
........
Life is precious to us all on this journey
Inside all of us a love that gives exists
Brevity of life demands we find our inner peace
Everyone must do their part for their fellowman
Remember those who have gone on before
Always caring for others before self
Love that had no beginning and no end
Sharing truth with those around us
Always pressing onward towards tomorrow
Reflecting on the peace we strive onward
Ever inching closer to our goal
Simply wanting a better world for our children
Others may jeer and jest at our motives
Saying things to tear and break us down
Truth cannot be quiet
Upon the mountains and in the valleys we shout
Peace to all and love for all mankind
Inside us all is love's abounding message
Deliver us all to hope and peace and love.
RIP

You know, some time during the Scamdal six and a half years ago, I started viewing Skins's island and the individual primitives as something similar with medieval morality plays.
Medieval morality plays, in their time, had as much influence upon the populace as does television now, being both entertaining and instructive in nature; their plots centering around the follies of man, and the consequences.
Doug's stupid ex-wife is to blame for that inspiration.
I dunno if it's ever been obvious to others here, but really, whenever I bring over a campfire from Skins's island, the ulterior, the subconscious, motive is to "instruct" others on what happens to people--in this case, primitives--when greed, intolerance, sloth, gluttony, Hate, arrogance, anger, decadence, carnality rules them.
I'm oftentimes impressed by how much simply watching Skins's island is like watching one of those medieval morality plays.
Redstone's biggest flaw was his bombastic pride and arrogance; he thought he was something "special," something "better" than the average run of mankind.
How happier the fate of Redstone, had he possessed a reasonable sense of self, and like his stalwart Gaelic forebears, humbly labored in the textile mills of New Hampshire. By now, he would've been just a year away from retirement on a comfortable pension and 401K plan, and inbetween times, the preceding decades, he would've stayed out of trouble.
