I think The BarackStar! fully realizes that unless she can produce a birth certificate proving that Osama Bin Laden is his father, or an alien busts out of his chest and kills the entire audience on live television, that the nomination is his.

he, initially, at least, just wants to get out of this debate without stepping on a mine and blowing a limb off.

hillary : "universal healthcare will work as a mandate because the federal government has many more resources to use to pay for it".

we aren't even mere taxpayers anymore.  we are "federal resources".

Title: Re: Ohio Democratic Presidential Debate - Feb 26, 2008
Post by: Wretched Excess on February 26, 2008, 08:14:04 PM

The BarackStar!:  "mandated health care means fining people that can't afford it, and people choose to pay the fine because it is cheaper than healthcare."

okay, who can find the logical black hole in that argument? :whatever:

Title: Re: Ohio Democratic Presidential Debate - Feb 26, 2008
Post by: Wretched Excess on February 26, 2008, 08:15:57 PM

hmmmm.  I think she just said that universal health care will be an employer mandate.

no, I am sure.  that is exactly what she said.

hillary : "aggressive measures to reduce cost"?  how can you control cost when you guarantee demand?

Title: Re: Ohio Democratic Presidential Debate - Feb 26, 2008
Post by: Wretched Excess on February 26, 2008, 08:17:19 PM

The BarackStar! : "her plan sucks, and will put people in jail.  my plan rocks, and is far superior.  and besides, there isn't a significant difference between our plans".

huh?

brian williams brings up NAFTA.

hillary thinks it's a big conspiracy because she always gets the first question, and makes some odd comment about perhaps The BarackStar! needs another pillow to be sure he is comfortable.

(no, she really just said that.)
Title: Re: Ohio Democratic Presidential Debate - Feb 26, 2008
Post by: Wretched Excess on February 26, 2008, 08:23:42 PM

Hillary : the republicans (george bush) broke NAFTA, but i will fix it.

The BarackStar! : NAFTA is destroying the country, even though i tried to help them when I was a community organizer (which I still don't know what the hell is), and NAFTA is hillary's middle name.  and NAFTA was specifically designed to destroy ohio.

this hysterical anti-war stance that The BarackStar! won't moderate on is a seriously high risk strategy.  if iraq continues to improve, it is going to be a very difficult position to explain to the electorate after the conventions.

interesting hypothetical question from russert.  "once you pull out of of iraq, if it goes to hell, will you reenter the country to stabilize the situation?"

hillary tapdanced.

The BarackStar! just said he reserves the right as commander in chief to go after terrorists if they are in iraq planning attacks like the one on 9/11.  umm, did he just say that?  how is that significantly different from what GWB did?

he said he gave her high marks for delivery and humor (or something along those lines).

The BarckStar! is being crafty about his socialist policies;  he is phrasing them in the context of returning soldiers that are having a difficult time getting health care or finding a job.  mccain will have to find a solution to that rhetorical contortion.

I think they need to go over years worth.  They've both missed votes in the last year and that would effect the ratings.

hmmm.  Is The BarackStar! the most liberal senator in congress?  nay, he says.  he splits hairs because in the ratings, the difference between him and hillary was on only two votes.  "who, me, liberal?"

and besides, the ratings don't make sense anyway.

(but just in case they did, they were also wrong)

maybe he should say they are "wrong and silly?"

I think they need to go over years worth.  They've both missed votes in the last year and that would effect the ratings.

he doesn't have "years worth', dear.  that's sort of the whole point.

Well he has 3 complete years worth.

I just always think these little most liberal/most conservative ratings when the candidate's been out there campaigning and missing votes to be a little misleading.  :)

he has been running for president for a year and a half of those 3 years, and not that 3 years is what I would call a healthy voting record on which to rely for the highest office in the land.

she had to knock him out, kill him, burn the corpse, and shoot the ashes into outer space.

none of those things were going to happen;  this guy is entirely too smart.  he was pretty much in a deep zone defense, and has been since super tuesday.  tactically, that is, of course, the smart play.

They're fighting on DU about the denounce vs reject thingy.  The hard core Hillbots say Hillary called him on it and totally won that exchange.  While every person with an actual brain is saying she didn't.

LOL   :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I love debate nights.

she painstakingly set him up as being soft on farrakhan.  he basically said, "fine, have it your way.  whatever."

the point, both stylistically and substantively went to The BarackStar! on that one . . .  BIG.

I didn't catch it all, but did The BarackStar! say that he had regrets about the schiavo saga?

that's going to piss off all the liberals that wanted to kill her.

I think I got that backwards.  I believe I heard on the scarborough show this morning that he regretted not doing something to prevent the senate from intervening in the first place.

My brother lives in OH.  I told him he should vote for HRC.  If she can stay in, we get to watch them fight for a couple more weeks.
