It's actually remarkably easy to do.  Unless you get an absolute bonehead of a dog, which has been known to happen.

I have zero experience in that department.  I do love visiting my parent's two Chinese Cresteds.

Katie doesn't play well with others, but Cooper is a good boy.  He loves everyone.

We had a good Christmas.   My goofball dh decided to give our 14 yo son, who plays football and basketball, a T-shirt from his school.  Dh didn't actually read the shirt..

14yo got a chuckle out of it.

If I can survive having a puppy (well, ok, it ain't over yet), anybody can.

Belle is a 9-month old golden retriever. She is house-trained. Never once pooped in the house. But I have to say that house-training is the least of the work that goes into having a puppy. Trying to control the dog from chewing your house to shreds is where the real work comes in.

I forgot about that.  The furniture, they're welcome to chew on.  I don't care for it anyway (as long as it isn't my desk or sofa).  Katie used to chew on the corners of the kitchen wall.

Chris....go to the pound and get a sweet dog, that needs a home....and one that is house trained.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

The ones at the animal shelter here are too big.  I have a small place, I need a small dog. :(

I see a couple small dogs.  I may check them out this weekend.

There are a couple of small ones...I bet they have more than what's on their website.

Does Vandy have a vet school? We have one here, I don't know if they have any dogs there or if they send them all to the humane society.

Ditto. No gift exchange this year between me and Mrs. E. We spent a pile of money getting this house outfitted. That's enough.

I see you already have a tombstone in the front yard.  Yours or hers?

Nothing.

My wife and I have parted ways.

Been there, done that Tucker.  I know how that can suck.

Wishing you a better 2009.

I didn't get a whole lot... a hoodie, a new wallet, a speaker dock for my mp3 player, gift certificate for me and my wife to the Olive Garden, and that's about it. As long as the kids have a good Christmas, that's all that mattered (and my kid and the others made out like bandits!  :-) )

I got a new laptop (put it on order back in the middle of November, and it finally arrived christmas eve)  which makes working from my wife's hospital bedside a bit easier.  The boy got a new bike from Santa Claus (he was out-growing his old one).

A new laptop is good, the wife doing better and better is the best.  :)

Amen to that.

Have you seen the update in the pinned thread?  I think we may be close to springing her from the clink.

The laptop is important, because it makes it a lot easier to do my work from home as needed, and support her as needed.

I did see your update.  :)

Yeah, the laptop will be most helpful right now.

That's great news, D6. I'm sure you and your wife have our continued prayers here that she gets even better.

Trust me on this. Puppies find the most valuable thing in your possession and their whole purpose in life is to reduce that "thing" to a pile of rubble. Quickly.

That's why my cats had their front claws removed the day after I brought them home.

I had a former cat who wasn't declawed until 6 mos....he climbed up the side of my cherry armoire and the back of a leather chair.....several times.  :censored: :censored:

Well I could but even if I adopt you, it's my mom whose heart you'd have to win over.  She told me "I'm going to give Rob a check",  I said "that's great because he's saving up for a TV for his room".   The next day she called ... she got the TV.  Needless to say that more than made up for the Cheerleading shirt.

My kids are spoiled but it's the grands, the aunts, the uncles and the grown step-siblings that do the spoiling.

Well, there was a BIG family surprise for Christmas in Louisiana... I just found out that a cousin of mine is pregnant with twins.  OY!

I have said it before that all the women in this family are extremely fertile.  I worry about when my time will come.  :o
