The South - I live here


I live in a state that can be characterized by racism, lynching, lobotomizing people for being homosexual just 24 years ago.

I feel it as much in MS, but it irritates me that there is this equating of LGBT Southern people as being so idiotic that we enjoy the abuse that homophobes regularly heap on people. We don't.

We simply like where we live, and forget it, if you don't like living in this particular climate, this particular state, or this particular are where your family lives.

We KNOW. We know the people that have suffered, have suffered ourselves, and believe me, we get it.

This thread is on fire.

I can't believe that I read about half those comments. Several mentioned schools named after Confederate Generals.....well, not in my county but I'm sure they still wouldn't like the names of the high schools here. First there's Andrew Jackson High School, you know, the democrat president. I would rather it had been Stonewall Jackson myself. Then there's Indianland High school because that was what it was 200 years ago. And then there's Buford High School, named after a Revolutionary War general situated about a mile from the mass grave of revolutionary soldiers killed at Buford's Massacre. Then there are two major middle schools that are named after prominent black men of the late 1800's that have carried that name for a 100 years, long before the Civil Rights movement.

I haven't owned are flown a "Confederate Flag" in the last 50 years but I see they seem to be like garlic to vampires to DUmmies. I got to get me some of those. It will keep the DUmmies away until they start their revolution and then attract them like a magnet when they do. I won't even have to leave the comforts of home to do my part in the "DUmmie Revolution". :-)

Some might call that hunting a baited field, but I can't say I see any problem with it, when used to eliminate an invasive, noxious species.

I've lived in the South all my life, born and raised here.  I don't recall one instance of a lynching, homos being lobotomized, or anythng else the aerows DUmbass is alluding to, even at double the "just 24 years ago" he claimed this was happening.

He must be living in a "progressive" part of Mississippi where these things regularly take place, because here in the red areas, it ain't happening.

He/she/it mentions MS but as near as I can tell isn't admitting to living there.
I cannot divine where "in the south" the lib lives based on their screed.
I am left to my own devices to guess where "in the south" he/she/it lives.
My best guess is southern Massachussetts.
