It's a good thing that we avoided a government shutdown

Too many working-class Americans would have been out of work had the government shutdown. They have mouths to feed and children to clothe.

Sometimes you don't get everything you want and you might even have some bitter pills to swallow, especially when you don't show up to vote allowing right wing Republicans to dictate the Congressional agenda.

GOTV next time.

Lesson learned hopefully.

Yeah good thing.  :whatever:

Working class Americans would have gotten up and gone to work....deadbeats and government workers would have stayed in bed.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Echo, echo, echo...

It was so good, it was worth saying twice.

On a side note, bonehead Boehner's POS "cluster foxtrot" House bill still has to pass thru Harry Reid's Senate.  Deal ain't done yet.

They'll throw some more pork in for both sides and get it through.

I wish I could say I'm surprised by the Republicans acting like Democrats....but I'm not.

Not if Obama handled it like last time, where he shut down everything the Feds even had the slightest contact with, even if they normally did nothing at all with it like access easements over Fed property, just to throw a tantrum and f*ck over as many innocent bystanders as possible.

I only spent an hour in my local DMV today.
I was renewing my driver's license for another 4 years.
It's also a state revenue office so it collects a lot of cash and other receipts.
I'm glad I had my passport on hand.
I was able to get them to admit that there was an oversight on the birthdate displayed on my license.
I told them I was there for my birthday, although I don't remember much about it.
Even still, I think I know better than them what my birthday is.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

I'm confused.

The Rethuglicans are to blame for the last shutdown...
...but because the Democrats got hammered this election we avoided a new shutdown...

...so the solution is to get out the presumably Democratic vote?!?

Me, either.  I really don't want to get my eyeballs stuck looking at the ceiling again.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.
