yikes. what are they thinking? Hillary PAC puts out country music vid "Stand with Hillary"
A bearded cowboy slings a guitar and swings a sledgehammer in a new country-music video that gushingly praises potential presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

This does not bode well for anyone hoping the coming campaigns will tone down the rhetoric.

We can't wait for the video with Chris Christie doing some sexy break-dancing.

Oh... it gets worse...

2. This is what's going to happen. Hillary will try to appeal to white NASCAR voters in the next election. She will run away from the black dude in the White House, Barack Obama. She will buy into the narrative that he's a weak, effeminate latte-sipping liberal who doesn't really love his country and is weak on foreign policy.

Just watch.

He had a more specific support base that allowed them to do this. Now with Arkansas folks running, those house strongarm district tactics are no longer relevant. it would destroy the gop. embrace the nascar crowd. give them something to think about.

107. This crappy video won't make any inroads with the "nascar crowd"

First of all, it was gruesomely, almost painfully, awful. The music was mediocre and the words sappy and saccharine. It's not "country music", believe me. I'm from Bakersfield and I know.

Secondly, the nascar crowd as you call them, has been hearing for 25 years from rush limbaugh and other idiots on the radio how hillary clinton is the most liberal person on the face of the planet and she's coming for their guns. One amateurish video won't change their minds.

What this piece of crap will do instead is convince black voters that hillary clinton just plain does not give a shit about them. Of course they won't vote republican, but if she keeps up such obvious pandering to the hick demographic, and keeps trashing the country's first african american president, she can expect a pretty dismal turnout among black voters.

She's not gonna win over any rednecks but she needs the black vote. Without it she's toast.

Bakersfield? Bakersfield, California is the Country Music Capitol of the US?

Post anything and everything you like whenever you like, that's what DU is for. But don't expect every half-baked middle-school criticism to be taken seriously. Drone warfare is a serious issue-bad country videos are just irrelevant bullshit. In 10 years which will people give a damn about? How many innocent kids did bad country videos ever kill?

That video was a giant cocktail of pandering, simpering and condescension. I applaud your commitment to getting Hillary elected, even if I don't share that vision.

That said, that video was absolutely embarrassing. I'm nearly embarrassed FOR HRC supporters.

108. Woah, woah woah. Fullstop. You are implying something I never said, either here or ANYWHERE on DU

No, I do not share the distain (and outright hatred) of Hillary Clinton that so many here do. But to the best of my memory I have never committed to any candidate this cycle. It would be pretty stupid since there aren't any yet. But if the Democratic field in 2016 is as expected I'll likely vote for O'Malley in the Mississippi primary. In 2008 I voted Edwards in our primary. But in both elections it was my stated intention to eventually support whichever candidate the party nominates (and that certainly includes Secretary Clinton) and I did-just like I've voted for every Democratic nominee since 1976. That's who I am-I knew I was a Democrat before I knew I was gay.

You can't necessarily equate defending a political figure with supporting that person for president. That's a bit too much of a leap.

And yes I understand that the party has degenerated into a pathetic caricature of itself but its too firmly embedded in my DNA at this point to change.

I think he is a good guy, and I'm glad he is on our side, but as an artist he will release whatever is selling at the time.

Jason Isbell is the real face of good country, and he wrote at least one song protesting the Iraq war.

Why should I support Hillary? Because the country was more united in the 90s -- you know, when Congress hated the president enough to impeach him?  Or because she's "a wife a mother, and used to be a First Lady" -- which you could also say of Laura Bush, Nancy Reagan, and Zombie Bess Truman?

Yep, Stand Up with Hillary, because she stands for...

I'd be shocked if more than 10% of black voters put that much thought into who they push the button for before looking for the (D) next to the candidate's name.

I haven't seen the video, but heard parts of the song.  It is truly, truly awful dreck.  Even worse, if that were possible, than the recent release by Neil Young.  His latest is some sort of anti-fracking and anti-fossil fuels song.  Just horrid & sounds like a parody.  Makes me feel bad for such a talent as Neil Young.
