Only a DUmbass would make up a post bragging about doing something that is just common courtesy. I held the door open for a black lady at a restaurant today. I didn't create a post to discuss because it is something I do everyday for everyone regardless of their skin color.
By the way, the last I checked, in Georgia pedestrians have the right-of-way.
Well, I come from two perspectives on this. On one hand, I agree that this was - and should be - common courtesy. But too often it often is not, But it's general, not racial.
On the other, I'm a walker who uses trails a lot. I participate in half marathons. Courtesy on the trail - especially bikes letting runners and walkers know they are passing from behind - is not very common. I try to be noticeably courteous so as to encourage others to do likewise. So if this young lady really was surprised and was expressing conspicuous gratitude (i.e. not admiring his car or thinking he's hot), she probably doesn't receive much courtesy
as a runner, not as a black woman.
