Star Member SoCalDem (101,904 posts)4 black teens, 1 white kid, an Escalade & 1 highway patrolmanWhen my son (the white kid) was a junior in high school (1996), he and 4 friends went on their merry way to a Laker's game.. They had only gone about 30 minutes down the road when the driver saw the lights & heard the "whoop". How do you know this detail if you weren't there? 18 years later? Um, because you made it up.The trooper approached the car, gun drawn,Bullshit and asked the driver for his drivers' license & registration. He made him turn on the overhead light , and asked if there was a gun in the glove box. Of course there was no gun, but the officer took offense at the "tone" when the driver answered him.Again, you remember this detail despite this being 18 years ago and you not being there. Right. He then told the others to get out of the car and put their hands on the vehicle. By this time, another trooper had shown up, and as my son started to exit the car, he was told to stay in the car. Being 17, and seeing his friends getting hassled, he mouthed off, and was told that he could wait in the Escalade or in the back seat of the cop car..So let me get this straight: a LEO thought enough of this traffic stop to have his GUN DRAWN when he approached the car (and approached the car in the first place! Anyone thinking they needed their gun wouldn't have approached the car!), and was suspicious that there was a gun in the glove box, BUT ONE OF THE CAR'S OCCUPANTS WAS ORDERED TO STAY INSIDE? BULLSHIT.The cops asked them to empty their pockets, and the driver was questioned about why his name was not the same as on the registration.. It was his Dad & Mom's car (same last name)..Oh, brother. These kids were basically detained briefly for "driving erratically" (but mostly for DWB)Basically? You remember minute detail, but not what they were detained for and for how long?My son was pissed because if he stood up for his football teammates, he was likely to be put in a cop car and then what?..and it killed him to see them being rousted for nothing.Sounds like a real Freedom Rider. The second cop to arrive, left, and the original one told them to drive carefully, and did not ticket them..The general consensus was that 4 black teens in a new Escalade, had to mean that they stole it..The other general consensus is that you're a lying sack of shit.
Wow, those black kids were really lucky to have a brand new Cadilac Escalade in 1996. Especially when the first models didn't go on sale till the 1999 model year.
Exactly the first thing I thought about when I read this bouncy. I don't remember any Escalades on the road before 2000.
Anyone got a sock they want to burn and tell that bitch no Escalades in 1996?

I thought he told me it was an escaladeIt was a luxury model SUV..obviously not a Caddy.. so sorry.. It must have been a Lincoln Navigator.. We drive older used cars, so I am not very car-conscious

I don't know much about cars either and often if I speaking withsomeone and I don't know the model of some relevant vehicle, I'll offer something that is similar to the one I'm referring to or say it was an SUV, or two-door sports car, or pickup truck, for example. My ability to ramble off car models off the top of my head (and even if I'm looking right at one) stops at about 1982, lol.

2014-1996 =less then 10 years.
Problem #2: The first Lincoln Navigator wasn't built until 1998. Keep trying, DUmbass SoCalDUmb!
did I saw Lincoln navigator? Mea culpa. I meant a Chevrolet suburban.
Next it will change the OJ's White Bronco
The Escalade was introduced for the 1999 model year in response to German and Japanese competitors and to Ford's 1998 release of the Lincoln Navigator. The DUmp monkey remembers tiny details to the story from 'over a decade ago' but not the right car...
