Slavery's been around since civilization. It's happened to all races & been perpetrated by all races. It's still practiced in some places today, mostly in Muslim countries. However, like the oppression of women & killing gay people, liberals don't put up much of a fuss if these abuses are done by Islamists.
Only a tiny amount, like 5% of the white people today even have ancestors who owned slaves. It was a very brief part of our history (ending 32 years after our founding) and localized to a few states.
Oh, as a side note: according to the History Channel, 1 in 10 of the soldiers fighting to free the slaves was black. That means 9 out of 10 were white. For those of us with ancestors who fought on the side of the north, isn't our families' blood enough?
The US did not get rich off the backs of slaves. In fact, the northern states who had no slaves were more prosperous than southern states.
While slavery had been around for thousands and thousands of years, America is unique and deserves recognition for being the first nation to do away with slavery, even those black American slave owners. Do they have to pay reparations to themselves. While most of you would rather a house drop on your sister than admit this: it was white Christian men who considered this a moral wrong and did most to end it.
Its certainly no guarantee that blacks here would be better off had they remained in Africa. Last time I checked, women & girls are being raped and killed in the Congo & boys are being forced to join the military. Somalia is run by warlords, who, as far as I can tell, don't pass out welfare checks. Moreover, the US had absolutely nothing to do with the colonization of the African continent. We were once a colony too, if you recall.
All your constant beating black Americans over the head with victimhood and lies has done for them is keep them down, tied to the government plantation instead the cotton plantation. You can tell yourselves you're compassionate but it's democrats who have separated them from the rest of society and kept them down. Giving them a true hand up would mean they wouldn't need you anymore. If you cared, the quality of their lives would matter more to you than keeping them hopeless, uneducated, angry and afraid just to have a guaranteed vote every election. Now go make excuses and twist yourselves into pretzels denying this.
