Skidoo and The Love Ins

TCM is showing two classic hippie era movies tonight as part of TCM Underground.

First up Skidoo, directed by Mr Freeze himself, Otto Preminger and starring Jackie Gleason, Carol Channing and Grouch Marx in his last movie.  It is a movie that really does defy description.

Next up, The Love Ins, when two underground newspaper publishers get hassled by some uptight establishment types, man, at some uptight establishment university, man, their English prof stands up for them and gets fired and becomes the leader of a LSD hippie cult in the free-lovin' Haight-Ashbury area.  Stars TV's Dano from Hawaii 5-0 and I think Don from Lost in Space.  If not him then the guy who played the "Don-like" character on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

That is 1:00 AM central time.

I crashed well before that time. Hope you enjoyed the movies. You mentioned Lost in Space..... now there is an oldie, but a goodie.

I have never actually seen a good, clear version of this.  I first saw a really scratchy version some years ago on cable access.  Last time TCM ran it I didn't know until it was over and then watched The Love Ins, which is a trip too but not as much of one.

Anyway, I recorded it last night and am having some friends over for movie night so I only speed through it to make sure the rain last night doesn't cause a signal loss.

My first time entertaining!  Woo!

Really it is just a grand plot to get my house tidy but whatever it takes.

Well, I had my first ever entertainment/movie party night last night and it went off well.  Skidoo is a great, great party movie.  Four stars.

And for fans of the old Batman TV show, it features actors that played three villains, The Joker, The Riddler, and the Penguin.  And of course it was directed by a fourth Batman villain, the original Mr. Freeze.

And not to mention an actor that went on to play Jaws in James Bond and the "I think I broke is freakin' neck" guy in the original version of The Longest Yard.
