What is the number of DUers on the Disability Gravy Train?
« on: November 22, 2014, 05:02:20 PM »
How many are either on, and/or actively trying to get on the Disability band wagon?
What is the percentage of these types on DU?

Oh now, that's a question far too difficult to answer with any precision.

I dunno how many people in the United States are riding the disability gravy train, but if, say for example, one in twenty of the general population are, it's a pretty good bet that ten in twenty primitives are.

How many are legitimate cases of really can't work?

If, say for example, one in three of the general population riding the gravy train are, it's a pretty good bet that one in thirty primitives are.

It seems to be the one ambition that most of them strive for, but I doubt that many succeed, too much paperwork.

Having lived near the border between St Louis County and Jefferson County in Missouri for about ten years, I was constantly bombarded with tales of woes from Jeff County Hoosiers and how happy, or disappointed, with the status of the SSDI claims.

A friend of mine from those days was the Personnel Services Manager for a St. Louis County office. He had about 4 or 5 crews whose sole duty was to tail people on disability and video/document their violations. He used to laugh at their utter stupidity while regaling our morning coffee group with latest, most stupid episodes. Good times, good times.

I'd say upwards of 75 percent if I had to make a guess.

Here's a DU thread that I found about SSDI.  The OP goes on and on in glowing terms about the struggle and of finally getting approved like it was some kind of challenging accomplishment to be proud of, like graduating from boot camp or graduating from college.  And the bulk of the replies are congratulations from DUmmies that seem to have already gotten themselves on the dole.  DUmmy after DUmmy chimes in with their own personal "success story".

After 4 years of waiting...I have been approved for SSDI!!

This is a huge deal for me and my family. What it took to get here was sacrifices by my family I wish I'd never had to ask...But I made it with a roof over our heads and for the most part food in the kitchen....

Food stamps & thankfully I was able to get some financial help from a few of my relatives.

And now I can actually live without fear of loosing our home-because of the system Republicans want to dismantle.

I'm still in shock frankly but wanted to share...

End of the world my arse!...
BEST DAY EVER!!!

After four years of waiting.

The primitive fan of Babs Boxer's travail exactly coincides with Obumbles' presidency.  To the day, nearly.

Apparently he was approved in '12, collected for a couple of years, and his claim is up for review, which I think is standard after a couple of years.

Probably similar to the large number that either have felony convictions or have lost their professional license (Or equivalent, like hospital privileges for the medical profession, which very rarely actually pulls a license) through incompetence, misconduct, or sheer laziness in maintaining it.  Not that the SSDIers and the foregoing are the same groups, but both comprise a large part of DU and there is doubtless a considerable overlap.
