I picked up a hitchhiker once.  It was late and she asked me to drop her off at this gas station in a bad part of town that was on my way. I did.  She was a friggin' prostitute!!  NEVER AGAIN will I pick up someone.

I wish I felt comfortable enough to pick up hitchhikers on the rez I cross.  Distances between communities are so far.

But unless I have someone riding shotgun, I don't do it.  I think I'd risk it if it was very cold anyway.

Gads!  I traveled the Midwest and eastern states in the 70s via thumb.  Only had one bad experience when traveling with a friend.  I can only hope the fellow was guilty of what I suspected.   Otherwise, this little red head went Detroit on him for nothing.
