TEXAS CITY — A woman whose four pit bulls attacked and killed a family’s 10-year-old beagle in October is now suing the deceased dog’s owner for up to $1 million in damages, according to court documents.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Steve Baker, Bailey’s owner. “Everyone was telling me to sue her, but I decided not to because it won’t bring Bailey back.”

Justice had already been served since the tragedy, he said.

“The police took the action I wanted and declared those dogs dangerous and awareness was raised; so I decided to let it go,” Baker said. “Now they’re suing me for $1 million — I just can’t believe it.”

The owner of the pit bulls, Emerald White, is suing the Bakers, whose beagle got killed. Talk about frivolous lawsuit!

TEXAS CITY — A lawsuit filed by Emerald White against Steve and Tiffany Baker last week is an example of a victim being revictimized, said Angel Hagmaier, the Bakers' attorney.

“With the injury there is now this insult in this case,” Hagmaier said.

The injury was the death of the Baker family’s 10-year-old beagle, Bailey, she said.

The insult is the fact the Bakers are being sued for up to $1 million in damages by the neighbor whose dogs attacked and killed Bailey, a lawsuit that has incited outrage across the nation.

Emerald White speaks out. Talk about irresponsible dog owner.

The only bullies involved were those sending hate mail and death threats to his Texas City office for taking on the case, he said.

“This isn’t a case I’m going to be scared away from,” LaValle said.

Although she had not received any threats herself, White said she had barely left her home, or used social media, out of fear.

Every time someone does something stupid and outrageous, they get death threats and other nasty stuff.

According to court documents, Baker’s neighbor and the plaintiff in the case, Emerald White, claims she was “seriously injured” after she was “unexpectedly and viciously attacked” when she entered the Baker’s backyard to retrieve her dogs, which had entered through a hole in the mutual fence separating the two properties.

I doubt the Beagle was able to do anything at that point. The stupid scrunt was probably attacked by her own dogs.

Beagles are more defenders than attackers.  She waited until it was too late to get DNA samples from the wounds to file. She knows her dogs bit her.

Huh.  Good fences make for good neighbors in suburbia, too.  Who knew.

That heifer could have gotten those scratches on her leg getting through the fence.  What a nutter.  Hope this suit goes no where.
