On Dec. 24, 2009, the Democratic-controlled Senate passed President Obama’s healthcare law with a filibuster-proof 60-vote majority. Less than five years later, nearly half are gone. To be fair, not all are a result of their vote on the ACA. But it certainly didn't help. It was a political gamble that didn't pay off.

Lost and replaced by a Republican:
Sen. Mark Begich, D-Alaska
Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark.
Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo.
Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C.
Russ Feingold, D-Wis.
Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark.
Arlen Specter, D-Penn.

Left Senate and replaced by a Republican:
Jay Rockefeller, D-W.V.
Max Baucus, D-Mont.
Tim Johnson, D-S.D.
Tom Harkin, D-Iowa
Ben Nelson, D-Neb.
Byron Dorgan, D-N.D.
Kent Conrad, D-N.D.
Evan Bayh, D-Ind.
Roland Burris, D-Ill.

Left Senate and replaced by a Democrat:
Jim Webb, D-Va.
Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.
Herb Kohl, D-Wis.
Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii
Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.
Chris Dodd, D-Conn.
Paul Kirk, D-Mass. (appointed to replace Ted Kennedy -- seat later held by Republican Scott Brown)
John Kerry, D-Mass.

Unfortunately, the system that existed before has been destroyed and wouldn't spring back into existence undamaged if Obamacare went away today.  Since Obama would veto any outright repeal, even with a majority (And not a veto-proof or even filibuster-proof one) in the Senate still leaves us stuck with just trying to limit ACA's scope downward and make some of its stupider provisions less harmful.

For one, I'm resigned to the fact that Obamacare - in some form or fashion - is here to stay. Yes, the new Congress needs to obliterate the more idiotic aspects of the law. Hell, if Barry can just unilaterally cast aside some parts of the law because they impact his buddies, what kind of justification does he have for vetoing those sections that Congress has ID'd as being beyond stupid?

Granted, he doesn't have to provide a justification, answer or reason. After all, Barry's just a lame duck at this point.

Congress must force him to a decision - even no decision is a decision. Shove it down his throat to the point that he gags.

Oh, wait. Barry and objects down his throat. Sorry, I forgot....  :whistling:

I think Obamacare is going to fall apart on it's own.  This next year the employer mandate, higher premiums, higher penalties, fewer doctors and more pissed off voters kicks in.

The libs in congress and the 2016 candidates will be begging to end it.

I think congress should force Obama to fully implement ObamaCrap as written in the law. Do away with all the exemptions that have been granted. Do away with all the agency interpretations that have been granted to dem allies.

Free healthcare for DUmmies should consist of a free one way airplane ticket to Cuba.

Well dummie... I  have always said that the dems will stand or fall on the law's numbers. Do the takers, that is the people that got free money for health insurance for you dummies too dumb to understand, outnumber the ones that are paying for it.

Apparently not. Add in the fact that obumbles lied his ass off about it and it all adds up to what happened on Tuesday.

Guess what dummies? You dem dummies wanted it, worked for it, got it, were successful and you owned it. Now you get to sleep in the bed you made.  Enjoy your bed of poison ivy and thorns. :muahaha:

Updated list now says 29, and corrects an error.

Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota) was replaced by a Democrat, not a Republican.

The 29th is Ted Kauffman (D-Delaware), replaced by a Democrat.

But there's also Carl Levin (D-Michigan), replaced by a Democrat.

Likely loser Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana), to be replaced by a Republican, not counted yet.

Three died while still in office; Robert Byrd (D-West Virginia), Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), Frank Lautenberg (D-New Jersey).

That accounts for 29; too bad for the primitives.

It will be interesting to see how many of the people who signed up of o-care last year will re-up for it this year or even bother to pay their premiums.  We have all seen the threads of DUmmies whining and bitching about how they can't afford the high deductibles on their "affordable" bronze plans and how they would have been better off not enrolling and taking the penalty.

Washington (CNN) -- The Supreme Court will review another controversial part of the health care reform law championed by President Barack Obama.

The justices announced Friday they will look at one of the law's most fundamental provisions: tax credits that subsidize health coverage purchased on federal exchanges. The credits are a central element of the law in states that decided not to set up their own exchanges. If the Court rejects them, coverage could be upended for millions of Americans..

Oral arguments will be held next year, with a ruling by June. The Supreme Court upheld another key element of the law -- that individuals pay a tax if they don't sign up for health insurance -- in 2012. The latest cast comes as Republicans who will have full control of Congress next year are also pledging to repeal the law.

The legal argument involves a provision in the health care law that says people who obtained coverage through state-run exchanges can get federal subsidies such as tax credits. But the law does not specifically say that those signing up on the separate federal exchange also are eligible.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/07/politics/supreme-court-to-review-another-obamacare-legal-challenge/

The law plainly states that those who sign up on state run exchanges will be eligible for federal subsidies. It doesn't mention the federal exchange.  This is Roberts chance to make up for his first ruling on Obamacare.

If people don't get subsidies after signing up on Healthcare.gov, then ObamaCare will collapse. OTOH, insurance companies will be hurt big time.
