Anti-American liberals lament about being called Anti-American

Quote
alarimer (12,948 posts)

I was told last night that liberals are un-American.

I keep posting this quote by Erick Erickson because I feel it reflects what we are truly up against.

He said, on Twitter, "Finally Americans are back in charge of America."

That, folks, is what we are dealing with here. I'm not sure our elected Democrats truly get this. I live in a part of the country where I'm surrounded by people who despise me for what I believe. I don't think hatred is too strong a word. They vote for Republicans because they HATE us. They don't care what they other side actually does.

Now, perhaps I am being overdramatic. Maybe this is just a speedbump on the way toward a brighter, more progressive future. Three steps forward, two steps back. After all, people in this country are rarely killed for their beliefs anymore. It didn't used to be that way, and I should be glad just to be ostracized instead of murdered. Probably so. Still, it is demoralizing and depressing to know that I am unwelcome in many parts of the country for simply not being a knee-jerk conservative.

I know a lot of this is just people reacting to what they see as a perceived threat to their way of life. In the long run, demographics are on the side of progressives. Do we have to wait until every old white conservative is dead before we see true change? I certainly hope not.

This whole post is amazing.  Liberals absolutely despise conservatives, and want them to die off, but this is whining that conservatives don't like liberals.
It's also funny that he's whining about being called anti-American, when liberals hate American exceptionalism.

2. Many of the older people still see liberals/progressives as hippies,

it doesn't matter that we have suits and ties on now. They associate our concern for the environment, clean energy, minimum wage, social security, etc. as a hangover from the "dirty filthy Beat generation".

As for the younger ones voting repub, they see us as not aggressive, demanding, or authoritative enough, not macho enough, plus we want to take their money and give it away to people who haven't worked hard enough, weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth, or don't have an offshore banking account.

To many of them, there is no great good than themselves.

I would wager than most Dummies don't have a suit, and instead of living off the commune, now live off the government.

15. Those people aren't echoing him, they echo RW propaganda media developed

by a Korean cult leader and an Australian extortionist who were urged to expand their propaganda media empires into the US market by their global fascist crony, GHWBush. They were CONDITIONED to echo the propaganda just as Erickson was conditioned to echo it to further it.

They are the NWO Republicans carrying water for their global fascist masters - and too dumbed down by now to realize it.

What the hell is that?

4. things just change...

I've lived in Texas my entire life. I'm used to the ups and downs. I came here as a result of the 2000 elections. One thing is for sure, things will change again. It's hard to believe people forget in just 6 short years. We were on the brink of financial disaster, losing jobs at 700,000/mo, in two wars, and Bin Laden wasn't even being looked for. I don't forget....I never, ever vote republican. The party has never done a damned thing for me. So, don't fret. Things will change...probably for the worse before it gets better, but things will change. They always do.

Dummy moves to a state with free-market principles, yet bitches about free-market principles.

7. You are not being overdramatic.

Fear and hate plus a normal dose of apathy funded by mega dollars won this election. The amount of people that did not vote is just as bad as sheep-people that voted against their own best interests.

In the long run, generations from now, these will be the known as the stupid money driven times, much like they way we look back on the dark ages.

The next two to six years are going to be one rocky ride.

I voted against my interests?  Someday in the near future, I will have children.  With Democrats in control, their future won't be too great.

11. It took me a while to realize how proud I should be to be called a Liberal...

The knowledge that TPrs hated Liberals and that I lived so close to a Tea Party chair, made it even more delish since I knew how much it irritated her. I haven't looked, but I imagine she is doing a jig in the street, this morning. I'll just be happy to see her take down those awful yard signs for Ernst and the other Repugs before the snow flies and they further mar the view.

My question is how we became such awful people in their view? Are we too educated with worthless degrees, too welcoming to those not like us, too helpful to those who are hungry, cold or homelesswith other people's money? I always thought those were pluses, but I guess if you aren't smart enough to get educated, have a cold/bitter soul and enjoy watching the suffering of those less fortunate, one could become awfully jealous and vindictive.

That's OK. I'll wear my Liberal Label and be mighty proud of it. All she has are those limp, used tea bags and those awful Republican signs in her yard.

First they tell me I'm selfish and that is why I vote the way I do, in the next breath they say I vote against my best interests.

Make up your damn mind.

I did this a long while back and posted a couple of times, but it's apparently just as relevant today so here it is again.

For you lurking DUmmies, the below is you.

FlippyDoo: Hello ladies and gentlemen of CC. It's been a long, long time since I've done an edition of the FlippyDoo Show. I've thought about doing an episode here and there, but I just didn't have the drive. I don't know exactly know why. I suppose that at some point it began to seem that the DUmmies weren't putting their best feet forward in their duty to entertain us. Lately, however, I began to rethink things. Let's face it, the DUmmies have been collected together in one place for the purpose of our entertainment and they are the self-proclaimed smartest individuals on the world wide web so surely my lack of drive could not be their fault. Maybe the fault is mine. I don't know. This is not something that was really covered in VRWC training or in fictional spirit-guide 101. I have decided that in order to determine where the fault lies that I need to get to know the DUmmies better. That is the purpose of this edition of the FlippyDoo show. So before I bore you anymore let's bring out the stars of our show and begin the interviews.

FlippyDoo: Okay, I guess my first question is how do you DU members view the Democrat Party?

Rockholm: The term "Democrat Party" is really pissing me off. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Oookay. Just for the sake of being diplomatic, how do you view the DemocratIC Party?

Count Olaf: The Democratic Party has traditionally been the party of love. linky-dink

Jackpine Radical: The Dems are the party of love. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: The party of love? I guess that was some love that good ole Rockholm was displaying earlier, but that doesn't matter. If you say the dems are the party of love who am I to say that you're wrong. I've got an idea though. Let's play a game. I'll say a word and you say whatever pops into your head. Let's start with: Bush.

lacuna: I admit it. I hate George W. Bush. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Christians.

noahmijo: I hate Christians even though I am a believer of the teachings of Christ. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Thanksgiving.

CrispyQ: Of all the holidays I hate Thanksgiving the most. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Family.

cain_7777: I hate my freeper brother-n-law! linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Christmas.

Vinca: I definitely hate Christmas. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Wow. That is indeed a bunch of love. So any other opinions on the DemocratIC Party?

AmericanLiberal: the Democrats are the party of compassion linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Compassion? Hmm. Let's play that word game again. The first is Jerry Falwell.

Gold Metal Flake: I'll stop dancing on Fallwell's grave long enough to piss on it. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Ronald Reagan.

mopaul: I'm glad he's dead and I don't care how many times I'm scolded or chastised for it. linky-dink

anotherdrew: I've still got to get my dancing done at reagan's grave, linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Robert Novak.

Robb: I'd like to dance on Novak's grave now. linky-dink

FlippyDoo. Whew. Let's go to something different. What do you guys think of our military?

Undertheocran: All of them are babykillers, The whole army needs to be desolved linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Darn. Umm. Moving on to something else again. What about America? Give me you opinion of America.

bhunt70: I hate America at this moment. linky-dink

Tom Yossarian Joad: America, the land of stupid mother****ers. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: For ****'s face!!!! What is wrong with you people!!! No. I'm sorry. I've got to calm down. Got to watch the language…Okay. I'm sorry about that. Tom mentioned something about America and stupidity.  A poll was posted several years back asking DUers their IQs. Out of 82 votes 78 people claimed to have IQs of 120 or above. And 37 people claimed to have an IQ of 140 or above. linky-dink to the poll That's a lot of smart people.

WFF: It's quite obvious that if you post on DU that you are intelligent! linky-dink

steve2470: DU totally rocks because people are so intelligent and helpful linky-dink

Gman: The average IQ at DU likely is 25 - 30 points higher than FR linky-dink

subcomhd: As anyone who checks in with FR knows, they can't spell. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: It looks to me like Gman and subcomhd are suggesting that incorrect spelling is an indication of stupidity. They may be right. I know I've seen the word "waisting" used when "wasting" should have been used instead. Also, I've seen the word "do" used when "due" should have been the word used.  If Gman and subcomhd are correct it would mean that FR has some dumb folks…wait a second…I've just been handed something by an assistant…It looks like I was mistaken those posts with "waisting" and "do" were NOT from FR. They were apparently from a post here by DU member Drale and a post here by DU member happyslug. I wonder what that says about DU. I know let's spin the post wheel and see some examples of DU intelligence…

snappyturtle: I need help to answer this repuke's email linky-dink

cushia_machree: Need help with repuke attacks on wilson linky-dink

Wiley50: NEED HELP DeBunking Repuke Chain Letter. linky-dink

Anwen: I need help arguing with a Republican linky-dink

ablbodyed: Need help to counter repug arguments….PLEASE linky-dink

FlippyDoo: For ****'s face! Are you people listening to yourselves?!? You're the party of love and compassion that's full of hate who spends spare time grave-pissing and grave-dancing. You're the alleged smartest people in the world yet need help against the alleged stupidest people on the planet!  Wait a second…okay…I've just been told by my assistant that since I am talking about the intelligence of DU unless I make mention of a certain post that a cop with a black ghost chicken will jump out of the bushes in 24 business hours and hit me with a brick so here it is…

spooked911: I set up the following experiment using steel rabbit fencing as the steel structure supporting a heavy cement block. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: What has the above got to do with intelligence?

FliippyDoo's assistant: He is proving with a cement block, rabbit fencing, and some fire that the Twin Towers didn't fall because of airplanes.

FliipyDoo; Get outta here. You're joking right?

nadinbrzezinski: We have crossed the rubicon…folks linky-dink

FlippyDoo: Who the hell are you?

nadinbrzezinski: For the record, I hate to be right about this. linky-dink

FlippyDoo: What are you rambling about?

nadinbrzezinski: the NOBODY has died Talking Point is now pining up in the fjords linky-dink

FlippyDoo: I don't know who that is, but I smell an interview. Maybe the drive is coming back. Talk to you guys later.

No DUmmies were actually interviewed in the course of this parody; however, since their actual words were used I suppose you could say that it is fake but accurate. I heard that somewhere once.

17. well, a couple of things

a casual reading of DU will show that there are many of "us" who also hate "them". You know, the "****ing ****ers" who don't agree with us. The racist morons.

And quite often many here will also demonstrate that "we" hate America too. To their perspective, this country, is like the Soviet Union. It is an evil empire that does great harm in the world, and is a police state at home.

But it's not like he was listened to...
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

Thanks to liberals supporting killing babies, the reverse is true.  As sane and normal people get older, they tend to get more conservative. The aging population is growing and the younger demographic is declining due to abortion.

That is why the left needs to allow illegal immigrants to vote.
