One other thing should be be pointed out about the nearly impossible row Obama has had to hoe.

Not only did he face an oppositional House of Reps, he also was cursed with the worst Senate majority leader in history.
 
Watch closely on Jan 20, Harry.

As big a jerk-off as he is, Mitch McConnell will show you that all you need to eliminate the filibuster is a litlle bitty teensy set of balls.

Then POOF .... It's gone

Thank all of you Dem candidates for running away from the Prez and the truth. Now WE get to pay for your amazing cowardice for the past 6 years.

From the time Senator Franken won his recount in June 2009 until Scotty Brown was elected in December 2009, Obama had a filibuster-proof Senate.
 
And, in case you don't remember Majority Leader Reid DID eliminate the filibuster.

Reid only eliminated the filibuster regarding appointments. Just look at what happened to legislation like the jobs act, veteran''s benefits, and you know as well as I that the list goes on, and on, and one, and….

Yeah, and the Dems should have passed more legislation in that little time period (super majority) to include taxes, unemployment benefits expiring, and infrastructure in addition to the AFA. They would never have gotten that without the super majority.

The libs have had no problem with the the removal of the filibuster they supported in the senate. This negated a tradition going back to our founding. If the GOP now uses the rule the deems passed for the benefit of conservatives, the same parliamentary trick they used and supported will then have them screaming bloody murder.

You are right, but I was looking at the voiding of the whole filibuster rules. The door was opened by Reid for the GOP to bypass the filibuster completely. Not just Reid bypassing that one aspect of it. I hope they do.

I think that would be a big mistake.  Eventually the ass-kicking boot will be on the other foot again even if the Dems do lose this time, and when it is the payback for taking it to that next level would be enormous.

And yet the democrats failed to pass any kind of "comprehensive" immigration reform when they owned the legislature and White House but will bitch and cry and whine about how it's the republican's fault that immigration reform has not been passed.
