Husband and I took the twins with us to our polling place so they could see how seriously we take voting, and the subject line is what my darling daughter earnestly explained to her twin brother (who just wanted to get to school and not be late).

We are still working on the nuances, but she gets it. I am so proud!

What great parents! I wish my folks had raised me to believe those who opposed me politically went around killing others. This is how healthy families are formed. I'm sure the kids can't wait to hear about the nuances of how the killings takes place. No doubt the deranged Ida and her worthless hubby will be completely honest.

I feel sorry for the kids, They don't stand a dog's chance in life of being normal.

I brought The Heiress to my polling place this morning.  The election volunteers that were working there were delighted that she was there with me.  Turns out that The Heiress has a social studies test today, on voting.  She got a first-hand view of that this morning.  No, she didn't ask me who I was voting for.  It was a straight ticket.

If I ever heard such a thing from a 7 year old (gotta be a lie in this case, I don't buy it even from a vile person such as IdaBriggs), I would respond thusly.  In a kind and gentle voice, I would say "your mother approves of killing unborn babies, what do you think of that, young lady?"

When I was a kid my parents told us children were not allowed inside the polling place. Gave it a serious, solemn air.

My dad would vote on the way home from work, then watch the kids while my mother went to vote.

A couple of elections as a kid, I made a few bucks passing out handbills outside the polls, and don't recall ever seeing a kid go inside with a voter. It just wasn't done.

I still think taking kids inside the polls is inappropriate. It's serious business, not a line to get a table at Golden Corral.

When my son was growing up, he went with me to vote every time the polls were open. I wanted him to realize how important it was to vote.
