Until Leading Democrats Do THIS In Unison, we are all up shit creek without a paddle

You name it. We all know the sorry list ..

Climate change come-a-cropper (which Noam Chompski thinks is more pressing than ANYthing right now),
endless wars in the ME, Wall Street still unleashed, etc. etc. <--- WE ARE ALL ROYALLY SCREWED!!

Democrats won't even take the tiniest baby step towards owning-up to the crises we face.
Exhibit A: One such necessary baby-step would be to put a permanent end to blatent GOP
election fraud and buggering once-and-for-all
. http://projects.aljazeera.com/2014/double-voters/

It will be messy and balls-to-the-wall for sure, for them to even try to do such a thing. But IMHO this
is an even more immediate, albeit shorter-term, crisis than climate change.

Until Dems uniformly do this, why focus on anything else?

North Carolina: Votes for the Democrats being flipped to Republican!

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/11/02/voting-machines-flipping-votes-for-republican-candidate-in-north-carolina/

North Carolina voters are being urged to check the paper rolls that can be found next to the screen on voting machines. The warning comes after at least 14 people have reported problems with how the machines are recording their votes.

According to the News & Record, voters who have attempted to cast their votes for the Democratic candidate have found that the machine registers the vote as one cast for the republican instead.

Sixty-nine year old Percy Bostick attempted to cast his vote for democrat Kay Hagan. The machine registered Bostick’s vote as having been cast for republican Thom Tillis. Bostick reported the problem to an election worker, who told him to ‘do it again’.

â€œAnd again, I touched the screen at the proper place for Kay Hagan, and it again reported it for Thom Tillis.”

The machine flipped his vote from Hagan to Tillis a third time. On his fourth attempt, the machine finally registered his vote for Hagan.

North Carolina voters report voting machines switching their votes to GOP candidate

02 Nov 2014 at 17:32 ET

Percy Bostick, 69, of Greensboro said he tried casting a vote for Democrat Kay Hagan — who is locked in a tight battle with her GOP opponent — however the machine, located in the Old Guilford County Courthouse — assigned his vote to Republican Thom Tillis.

“I called one of the poll workers over,” Bostick explained. “She said do it again. And again, I touched the screen at the proper place for Kay Hagan, and it again reported it for Thom Tillis.” According to Bostick, the machine finally recorded his vote for Hagan on the fourth attempt.

<snip>

According to Guilford County elections director, Charlie Collicut, his office has received 14 reports of voting problems since early voting started Oct. 23, including seven from people who grew concerned after they got home.

Collicut urged voters to check their vote against the paper roll next to the screen to ensure that the machine properly registered their selections. He also advised voters to report any problems to poll workers immediately. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/11/north-carolina-voters-report-voting-machines-switching-their-votes-to-gop-candidate/comments/#disqus

Two Suggestions: A 1% SURCHARGE on Political Contributions to Maintain Voting Infrastructure, and

Using the POST OFFICE as a place to A) get voter ID, and B) vote in advance.

I'd like to propose that we put these two things into the Democratic Party Platform!

1. A 1% surcharge (surtax) on all political contributions, which would be used to IMPROVE THE VOTING INFRASTRUCTURE. Use the money to buy optical scanners (not crooked Diebolt rigged voting machines) for congressional districts where people have to line up for hours to vote because there aren't enough machines.

We've gotten to the point where there is three or four billion dollars flying around through dark money PACs, and other front organizations. The least we can do is tax some of that money to increase the efficiency of the voting process. At 1% that would be about $40 million to buy more machines for districts where there are too few. Let's see somebody try and oppose a bill like that, and claim they're NOT in favor of VOTER SUPPRESSION and VOTE CAGING!

2. Mandate that local POST OFFICES also serve as voter registration offices (which they already are, I believe), as well as places to get PHOTO ID, and do EARLY VOTING. There's already a post office in every community. Do this, and you not only increase the efficiency of voting, but you also make it harder for Republicans to destroy the USPS.

The desperation deepens.  :hyper:

The boys at ES&S have developed a voting machine with better judgment than DUmmy Bostick.

First up, political contributions are "free speech", bitch. Try to tax free speech, and see how that works for you.

Second, states purchase voting machines out of the state budgets. States have no constitutional power to tax free speech (political contributions) and the Federal government has no constitutional power to force states to purchase particular equipment.

The most secure, fraud-free way to vote would be 100% in-person voting on Election Day, with mandatory ID and birth certificate (or naturalization certificate), using printed ballots with the voter's thumbprint, and leaving indelible ink on that thumb to prevent multiple votes.

DUmmies would die of apoplexy- an added benefit.

Two words: Tenth Amendment, bitch.   :???:

The US Constitution does not grant the Federal government the power to mandate where states will issue ID cards, nor does the Federal government have the power to mandate where states, counties, or cities locate their polling places.

So, for this DUmmy, two more words: **** you.

Weird... when the machines flip the votes from Republican to Democrats (which happens much more often), the Dummies claim that it is merely a calibration error.

The machines in Chicago are different.

If you vote for a repuke, the machine flips it to two votes for the democrat.

It does the same thing if you vote for a democrat.

I don't understand how these machines can flip a vote.  Is there a default position they are set to?
