This has happened to me three times now...

I go grocery shopping, reach for a bag of chocolate or hard candy, (I love cinnamon disks,) and find the bag already torn open and considerably lighter than the untorn bags.

Each time, I brought the torn bag to the checkout, and they appreciate me bringing them the torn bag.

But is this getting more common, stealing candy?

You're probably just getting there after LynneSin's been there, dude.

Of course this has great meaning:

1. Sure seems like it is more common, my dear Archae...

I hate to see it happening.

Good of you to let the store folks know.

2. You might very well be correct. The past month, I've seen people eating food while going down...

...the aisles. One lady have a cooked chicken from the Deli and was chomping it down as she searched for soap in the laundry aisle.
Another guy was eating raw hot dogs straight from the pack...and also some dude was eating Oscar Meyer ham while looking at cheeses.
I didn't say anything...(Maybe they were broke and hungry) I don't have the heart to get them in trouble for being poor.

Oh, brother. People have been eating food in grocery stores since there have been grocery stores, you stupid turds.

For some reason (not sure why) this reminds me of the Great DU Commodity Shortage Hysteria of 2008, when they thought rice and other staples would be rationed. Anyone else remember that? This will help:

FOOD RATIONING has finally come to America. NY, New England, West Coast affected.

.
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Many parts of America, long considered the breadbasket of the world, are now confronting a once unthinkable phenomenon: food rationing.

Major retailers in New York, in areas of New England, and on the West Coast are limiting purchases of flour, rice, and cooking oil as demand outstrips supply. There are also anecdotal reports that some consumers are hoarding grain stocks.

...

An employee at the Costco store in Queens said there were no restrictions on rice buying, but limits were being imposed on purchases of oil and flour. Internet postings attributed some of the shortage at the retail level to bakery owners who flocked to warehouse stores when the price of flour from commercial suppliers doubled.

...

Mr. Rawles said the spot shortages seemed to be most frequent in the Northeast and all the way along the West Coast. He said he had heard reports of buying limits at Sam’s Club warehouses, which are owned by Wal-Mart Stores, but a spokesman for the company, Kory Lundberg, said he was not aware of any shortages or limits.

An anonymous high-tech professional writing on an investment Web site, Seeking Alpha, said he recently bought 10 50-pound bags of rice at Costco. “I am concerned that when the news of rice shortage spreads, there will be panic buying and the shelves will be empty in no time. I do not intend to cause a panic, and I am not speculating on rice to make profit. I am just hoarding some for my own consumption,” he wrote.

This in the United States of America. This in the 21st century. I can't imagine how bad it is in the developing world right now. I've been hearing of food riots. What happened to all the farmland? Did we convert too much farmland for ethanol and strip malls and office buildings?

I remember the food riots of 2008.

Good times.

Depends on how many Obamaites happen to live in a given area.

Good point. DUmpmonkeys are herd animals, so any behavior they observe belongs to their population.

In this case, their herd is grazing. The only difference between them and the Ferguson looters is scale.
