So I saw my first non-fresh, non-embalmed corpse today.

A neighbor died, and my landlord knocked on my door to ask me to come in with her to make sure she was dead.

I didn't even have to touch her, I could tell by the color of her body she'd been dead at least 24 hours.

The coroner just left. I had to make a statement to them and to the police about what I knew about her and what I did when I entered her apartment.

I'm still shaken up.

1. Of course you are, my dear moriah...

It's really not easy to come face to face with our own mortality.

Be good to yourself...

Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Oh geezuz.

What landlord would ask a tenant to verify someone's dead instead of calling the cops about it, the very first thing?
apres moi, le deluge

I think they ransacked the apartment before calling the cops or coroner. Stealing from the dead would suit a DUmmie.

I think the normal response would be, "Whoa, this, whatever it is (death or unconsciousness), is too big for me to handle, so I'll call the cops about it."

When one of my older brothers died in his sleep at the age of 40 (cardiac arrest) way back in 1986, the secretary in his office and his right-hand man, mystified as to why he hadn't shown up, went to his place.

And that's exactly what they did.

DUmmies are not normal, far from it.
