Army War College Revokes Sen. John Walsh's Degree
Source: ABC News

The U.S. Army War College revoked Democratic Sen. John Walsh's master's degree after an investigation completed Friday concluded he plagiarized a research paper required to graduate, a college spokeswoman said.

A POS in the Army and in politics gets some social justice.

6. This shit doesn't even matter. All he had to do was say he cited it wrong but that doesn't mean he's a bad person or a bad senator. Then he should've stayed in the race but he didn't because red state dems don't have any balls. If I was him I'd still be in the race and I'd probably be winning too. If he couldn't take scrutiny he shouldn't have took that job in the first place. His real flaw was giving up too easy.

He didn't 'cite it wrongly'. He took whole sections from someone else's work and called them his own.

5. wait...why were they investigating him, and doesn't everyone plagiarize anyhow?
like it's something that they tell you not to do but is statistically unavoidable.

If I take your work and call it my own what does that make me? A democrat.

BUT WHY!!!! cries the DUmpmonkiez, SHOULD THIS WONDERFUL MAN BE HOUNDED THUS!!??!!

9. Because people like to dig into the backgrounds of public figures. When they find huge chunks of "lifted" material, it can't be ignored.
He should have used footnotes and paraphrased. Then, he'd be fine. That's attribution, not plagiarizing.

And the military, especially the officer corps, is held to a very high standard. (well, it used to be before the Barryites started doing social engineering with it) It used to be the code of 'An officer with not lie cheat or steal nor tolerate those who do'.

11. how do we know he didn't use footnotes? the whole idea of plagiarization is so nebulous anyhow. the whole thing reeks of political payback.

As I said before, if you take entire CHAPTERS from someone else's work and call them your own...

25. in that case, it seems pretty clear-cut tho why they had to wait so long to figure it out is beyond me.

12. Okay-now we're half way there...Now, was he promoted after receiving the degree and if so should he not also be demoted? What other advancements did he get based on his stolen "scholarship"? As much as I hate when a republican does this I get twice as pissed when it is a democrat.

Sure you do.

Hmmm. Something is up with this.
His elite status should have protected him from consequences that affect the rest of us.

By what strange circumstance is a democrat being treated as equal under the law?

I've worked at a couple of TRADOC branch school posts in my career, and they all have an extremely low tolerance for plagiarism.  People get thrown out of branch qualification schools for it all the time, which is not exactly being thrown out of service but it's tantamount to it, since they're unpromotable dead weight in a strict up-or-out system.  And they deserve it...the rules are crystal clear.

The War College thesis is not some 500-word essay, it's a real Master's thesis and a selection of them are published in the periodical Military Review.  You can see the level of effort expected in one by looking at that publication.

First, almost certainly someone saw the paper and realized it had been largely lifted from elsewhere, even though it had gotten by his Small Group Leader and faculty originally, then complained about it (Most likely providing cites to the plagiarized work), followed by the War College doing the ethically proper thing and investigating the complaint.

Second, redruddyred, you are an unethical piece of shit who illustrates perfectly why American university degrees aren't worth their weight in used asswipe anymore.

It might just seem like everybody is doing it, if you are a democrat.

Joe Biden plagiarised Neil Kinnock speech
What's in a quote? For Joe Biden, his plagiarisation of a speech delivered by Neil Kinnock, then Labour leader, helped put pay to his own campaign to win the Democrats' presidential nomination more than 20 years ago.

Okay, I admit that, technically, it probably wasn't plagiarism but Barry did try to pass off someone else's work as his own.

Articulated much better than I could hope to do, DAT.
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

DUmbasses - since Walsh's degree was revoked, its pretty much a lock that he claimed large amounts of work as his own - this is not about a forgotten footnote or two.

Plagarism shouldn't be wrong for Democrats...what's the difference between taking someone's work and taking someone's money?  It's just a different kind of tax...

That's what I was thinking also. The DUmp can't see anything wrong with plagiarism because it is stealing and they are all for stealing.

It speaks volumes of his character.  But I guess character doesn't count as long as the guy has a (D) after his name.
