Police officer fatally shoots teenager in south St. Louis
« on: October 09, 2014, 06:18:30 AM »
As you might imagine .. the Twitter universe is lit up and even though I haven't looked yet .. They're probably forming their protest in the streets already.
(Bic lighters at the ready)

Before everyone gets all teary eyed, see my follow up post!

Quote
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said the officer was patrolling the neighborhood for a private firm at the time of the shooting. He confirmed that the victim was 18 years old.

Dotson said the officer was in a car when he saw three males and one of them started to run away but stopped. The officer did a U-turn and then all three ran. He drove through streets following them and then chased them on foot. He then got into a physical confrontation with one that escalated into gunfire.

The teenager had a gun and fired at least three shots at the officer, who returned fire, the chief said. The teenager attempted to fire more but his gun jammed, Dotson said.

The officer fired 17 times, he said. It is unclear how many times the teenager was shot.

Police recovered a 9mm Ruger, he said.

Dotson did not identify the 18-year-old but said he "was no stranger to law enforcement."

(snip)

Relatives who came to the scene, however, said the victim had been unarmed. They identified the victim as Vonderrit Myers Jr., 18.

I just love how the STL Post-Dispatch, a liberal rag if there ever was one (they dumped their token conservative, George Will, because he dared to tell the truth), spins the story:

Quote

Note the use of the word "victim" when describing the perp. They could have said "alleged assailant," "alleged perpetrator," or any number of descriptions denoting the dead punk as being a bad guy, but no, they've got to fuel the fire portraying this jagoff as a "victim."

And so it goes... :whatever:

I have run across numerous articles stating in big bold letters how this was another victim of a white cop!

Let the race baiting begin.

The so-called "reporters" on this story are Margaret Gillerman and Valerie Schremp Hahn. They're at mgillerman@post-dispatch.com and vhahn@post-dispatch.com.

I sent them this email:

In the unlikely event you read this email, your choice of the word "victim" when describing Myers is a blatant attempt to paint this individual as just an innocent bystander; just a harmless guy out for a walk in the park.

Your irresponsible reporting is what fuels the discord between Caucasians and Blacks.

Don't you think that describing this individual as a potential assailant is more accurate? Why would an off-duty cop shoot somebody if he wasn't being attacked himself?

You work for a publication that shows little regard for the truth and, like most of the main stream media, you do your utmost to spin the story so as to create more chaos. More chaos, more money for your publication.

Disgusting.

Relatives of the dead teen who came to the scene identified him as Vonderrit Myers Jr., 18. They disputed the police version. They say he didn't have a weapon.

Teyonna Myers, 23, of Florissant, said Myers was her cousin.

“He was unarmed,” Teyonna Myers said. “He had a sandwich in his hand, and they thought it was a gun. It’s like Michael Brown all over again.”

Bravo. Hi5. I hate the STL PD. It's a total liberal rag. A relative of mine quotes that stupid paper all the time. I got off the phone with her a while ago and told her to not believe much of what she reads in that lib rag.

The Post routinely editorializes on the front page. I had cancelled my subscription in protest some years ago for one of their numerous stupid articles. When SR moved to STL, he wanted a paper to read. Unfortunately it's the only one now. We got it, but compromised, got it on the weekends only so I wouldn't be ticked off all week.

It's outrageous, particularly when they show the arrest records of that "sweet innocent widdle child", plus the fact that he had his ankle bracelet on where he was not supposed to be out late at night.

All my family lives in the StL area. I fear for their safety and about explode when I read the crap coming out of there.

The difference is, they aren't going to come as a surprise to the business owners still in the area. These riots stand a strong chance of turning around and biting the rioters square in the ass much sooner than they probably expect.

Lib leaders and muck rakers are already trying to exploit this to motivate the owebumazombies, obamaphonies and owebumadrones. The libs are hoping this will be an October surprise to tilt voter turnout.

True. I worry this could go outside of St. Louis area.

I wonder why Michael Brown triggered it all. I would guess, he was shot and killed by police unlike Trayvon Martin, who was not shot by police.

This might backfire on them big time. A friend commented that this is turning a lot of folks who never had a racist thought into racists---many are just absolutely sick of it in the region, have had their fill of the thugs. There just might be a tidal wave of voters in November to turn the rascals out.
