"Former President George W. Bush is pointing to the resurgence of violence in Iraq as validating his belief that American troops should have stayed in that war-torn country instead of withdrawing in 2011. 'They’re not ready to do it on their own, and that’s the lesson we’ve learned recently,' Bush told Fox News on Thursday."

http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/george-bush-isis-america-has-learned-lesson-about-iraq

This from the ****ER who lied us into the war, and finally signed a deal to withdraw all the troops he sent to Iraq by 2011.

Know how I know that?

Because he held a press conference to announce it on December 14th, 2008, during which a guy THREW SHOES AT HIM.

*That* was the shoe-throw presser: the announcement of US troop withdrawal by 2011.

Again: "Former President George W.

There are times when even the vilest curses are inadequate to the task. This is one such time. The levels of sheer wretchedness here are literally fathomless.

...so I will suffice with this:

**** YOU, YOU ****ING ****.

Yeah, the spoiled brat infantile Child of Privilege.

But every time I get around to loathing him, I remind myself, who cares what the Bostonian Drunkard thinks?  Who cares what makes the Bostonian Drunkard angry?

He's an utter irrelevancy, just a voice machine that makes a lot of noise that nobody else listens to.

Panetta unloads on White House for pulling US forces out of Iraq

Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is lashing out at President Obama’s inner circle for failing to secure a 2011 deal to leave U.S. troops in Iraq, effectively accusing the White House of sabotaging the talks – in turn, opening the door for the region to become a haven for the Islamic State.

Panetta, who served as CIA director and then Defense secretary during those negotiations, aired his complaints in his forthcoming memoir, “Worthy Fights.” Excerpts on the Baghdad talks were published by Time.

In them, Panetta explained that Iraqi leaders privately wanted some U.S. forces to stay behind after the formal 2011 withdrawal, though they would not say so publicly. The former secretary, though, said the U.S. had “leverage” to strike a deal, and the Defense and State departments tried to do exactly that.

“But,” he wrote, “the President’s team at the White House pushed back, and the differences occasionally became heated. … and those on our side viewed the White House as so eager to rid itself of Iraq that it was willing to withdraw rather than lock in arrangements that would preserve our influence and interests.”

George W. Bush was given the opportunity to criticize Obama on Islamic State and Iraq. Here's how he handled it.

Former President George W. Bush declined to criticize President Obama’s handling of Iraq and the rise of the Islamic State, the terrorist group that has captured large swaths of land in the Middle East, opting instead to respect the difficulties associated with the office.

“The president has to make the choices he thinks are important,” Bush said during a Fox News interview that aired Thursday. “I’m not going to second guess our president. I understand how tough the job is. To have a former president bloviating and second-guessing is, I don’t think, good for the presidency or the country.”

But that’s not to say that Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade didn’t try to coax an “I told you so” moment from Bush, who has warned in the past that withdrawing from Iraq without leaving some U.S. troops to ensure a smooth transition could end in disaster.

“I tell people all the time — off the record, by the way — that [former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s] relatives were enslaved in the greatest democracy ever for 100 years,” he added. “Democracy takes time to take hold. Yet there is an impatience with that process. Americans have got to understand that the lesson of [the September 2001 terrorist attacks] is still important today as it was right after 9/11, and that is the human condition elsewhere matters to our national security.”

Obama to speak in two minutes on Iraq withdrawal (12:46pm EST)
Eight years waiting to hear this.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2160515

So tell me Pitt - What changed ?

It seems you were pretty happy when OBAMA announced troop withdrawal, yet you are now angry about the same troop withdrawal -but at BUSH. How come you didn't bring up the Bush shoe incident then ?

I already know the answer, and so do you.

The only time Obama ever makes a declaration is when there is no downside. For example, Obama was also following the mission started by Bush targeting OBL - but since that was successful, Obama claimed the credit. If it failed he would have blamed Bush. The same is true by sticking to a timeline projected by Bush years before. If the troops leave a stable Iraq behind, Obama takes the credit, and fulfills a promise. If Iraq fails without US troops, Blame Bush.

- In the case of troop withdrawal Obama has done both. - Hoping that short memories will negate all the credit he took when things looked good.

-It seems you are doing the same thing, Pitt.

A pair of vitally important news reports were lost recently amid a blizzard of stories about the gyrating stock market and a rogue East Coast earthquake. The first came from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who announced that a deal had been struck to keep US forces in Iraq beyond the oft-publicized December 31st withdrawal deadline and into 2012, contrary to Mr. Obama's promises.

So, Pitt... The bolded part..  Did you mean Obama when things looked good, or was that a typo ? Did you mean to write " contrary to Mr. Bush's promises." and made a mistake ?

-It has to be one or the other, Pitt. It can't be both. Illogical otherwise.

Pitt is too stupid, and too pompously arrogant to recognize his own ignorance, to see the difference between withdrawing the main combat forces at the end of the successful Surge Offensive operations, and the establishment of a residual stabilization and reaction force.

His opinions on U.S. national defense issues, and about everything else, are as well-informed and soundly-considered as those of a three-year-old Bolivian peasant child would be.

Can I also add that Bush negotiated an extension of the SOFA out to 2011, NOT a withdrawal.

He's lying by deliberately mischaracterizing the nature of the negotiations.

Hmmm.

The Bostonian Drunkard must've had an argument with his father; probably he wanted something, and dear old dad wouldn't give it to him.  (For those who don't know, Pitt Sr. is divorced from Pitt Jr.'s mother.)

This was noted years ago, that whenever the Bostonian Drunkard lost an argument with his paternal ancestor, he'd lash out against George Bush.

A classic example of misdirected anger.

And there's something else.

The Bostonian Drunkard is aware that his mother, "Raven," hangs around Skins's island.

If my maternal ancestress were still alive and hanging around places I hung around, out of courtesy to her, I'd watch my language, because I wouldn't want her to think she raised an uncouth boor.

As Freud would point out, his use of such language around her, even if not directed at her, shows a contempt for her.

One wonders if mama Jane isn't doling out the dough as fast as he'd like her to.

Such a concise and eloquent statement of the ideology that motivated so much of the GWOT, and took the opening moves that led eventually to the Arab Spring (Which of course Obama tried to take credit for, despite having taken neither the initiative nor any active part in it, his contribution being limited to screwing up Libya worse than it already was and getting some Americans killed in the process).

Unfortunately, events have proven that far too large a percentage of the Tweeting, twerking, instant-gratification American voting public utterly lacks the wit to comprehend it and the political will and staying power to pursue any such noble, patient, costly long-term program even if they did.

I used to believe in exporting democracy, the past ten years have convinced me that we are much better off having the hot spots under the control of despots and warlords with whom we can deal on a basis of sheer pragmatism.  Every single place of any importance to us, where we have deposed a dictator and then cleared out within ten years, has ended up the worse for us even being involved at all.
