This topic has brought out some of the more interesting anthropological studies one can obtain from observing the primitives dancing around the "spanking" fire with their faces painted while chanting and flapping their arms.
The primitives have concluded there's only one "correct" conclusion to reach on this issue, and that is no spanking at all. The only information and "experts" they're willing to tolerate are those which totally agree with them, as is typically the case on the issues. But this is one of those topics where I get a sense (maybe others do also) that the primitives *really* want the world to sit up and take notice of what they have to say on the matter, and to immediately nod in agreement and acknowledge them as having the answer, and therefore they have other answers that are worth seeking and obeying. They seemingly have no sense of their surroundings outside the island on this topic (except to claim those who don't see it the way they do are evil), and that those they are trying to shame into seeing it their way are simply shaking their heads and ignoring them. And I realize they do this on any number of topics and issues, but for whatever reason their behavior this time has caused it to shine more brightly (at least to me) on this topic of child discipline. That others won't agree just eats them alive.
A primitive made a post within the last week saying they're having a problem with their child misbehaving and wanted to ask the community if they had any suggestions. Someone wrote back and said of all the places to go seek parental advise that DU would never be one that a reasonable person would consider. The post was hidden immediately; it didn't take 2 minutes. I would have brought it over, but I got busy at the time. But it was the perfect example of "This is the stated narrative. We don't want to hear anything that might shatter our fragile world!"
There's been a handful of primitives who early on said they have no problems with spanking a child, but the brown shirts on the island quickly shouted them down. Did they change their minds? No. Do the primitives think they won some type of victory over them in the real world? Sure they do. They're out of their minds and I would expect them to believe nothing less. To them, Skin's island *is* a reflection of the real world. Now presented with that they'd tell you they don't believe it, but their actions and behavior on the island speak louder.
But watching this topic on the island has given me a renewed realization that the primitives really are as impotent as they seem to be when reading their nonsense, and when the world sees it, the world knows it. Placing these dolts front and center for all the world to have an opportunity to see is one of the best things we could be doing.
