I'm guessing it was William Pitts, as he was coming down from his heroin high. 

A man online discussed in graphic detail how he planned to violate me and two other women he specifically named. I came home tonight to see not only those threats, but a series of posts reacting to that news in a variety of ways, some supportive, some I consider dismissive of the threat, and others hostile toward me and the other women threatened. Some have suggested if only we didn't read the threats, there would be no problem. They seem to have no understanding that online threats are sometimes acted upon in real life. Some other posters have responded to news of those threats by talking about how much they dislike the women being threatened.

I understand the views I take are not always popular. I am passionate and don't hesitate to speak my mind. What I could not anticipate, however, is that disagreement would lead to the kind of reactions I have seen. I can't imagine responding with anything but horror at hearing of such treatment toward anyone, not only other members of this site but of people I find politically reprehensible, like Michelle Bachmann or Louie Gohmert. No human being deserves to be threatened or degraded.

To those who have been supportive, I thank you for your concerns and empathy. To others, I can only say that I am deeply saddened.

Since the DUmmies are incapable of telling the truth, either 'at all' or in a comprehensible and direct way even when trying their best, you have to read between the lines.  She did not say it was posted in a thread, she said 'Someone online,' which means whatever passed between her and her secret admirer was most likely in one or more PMs, or in other words, PMs to a PMSer.  And 'threat' was likely not a direct threat to do something criminal, but far more probably something in the form of a fantasy that someone sent her in the 'I'd like to...' dirty fantasy vein, with some BDSM or dominance/submission elements, which she spun up into a red alert abduction warning for attention value. 

Even if it were as represented (Fat chance, this is a DUmmie cum laude we are discussing, and therefore constitutionally unable to tell a direct truth), it could easily be some DU male or dyke thinking it was hitting on her, or one of the other Klams in a dispute with her who purposely adopted a male persona to troll her.

I saw a vile misogynist get booted from a discussion forum in the space of four posts, with only 36 minutes elapsing between the first post being posted and the last one getting hidden.

The first post was made at 6:21 PM, the fourth 6:31 PM. The four posts were alerted between 6:24 PM and 6:35 PM, with the last Jury concluding at 6:57 PM.

All four Juries voted 7-0 to HIDE -- in other words, the troll was shut down 28-0. Due to an earlier hide, this rendered him suspended and unable to post.

To recap: on a Sunday evening, on a holiday weekend, on a discussion forum with no ideological boundaries, no moderators, and not even any real rules to speak of regarding conduct, a misogynist troll was ejected in 36 minutes, by the unanimous consent of 28 randomly-selected members.

How is that a failure of the system? How is it a bad thing that a discussion forum with an exceedingly diverse membership just unanimously removed a misogynist from their community without needing rules to tell them what to do or moderators to do it for them?

And why are you continuing to give this dope publicity? He had a previous hide, he was suspended, at which point the only thing he could do was scrawl all over his profile page like it was a bathroom wall. And then, like all trolls, he created a sock-puppet account and was perma-banned. This most recent incarnation of his is well and truly toast, and it happened in short order.

In order to even read that crap he wrote, you have to jump through the following hoops:

1. Go to a different website
2. Create an account at that website
3. Log in to the website
4. Click on the member's profile page

Except, not any more because for some reason it is now also posted over here on DU as well.

The reason for the poster's ban on Discussionist: yes, it for was creating a sock, and that's because there are pretty much only two ways to get perma-banned from Discussionist: spamming, or creating a sock. Other than that, the membership decides who can and can't post there via the Jury system.

As for the issue of persons stalking and strategizing the trolling of feminists: well, this dude did it and got caught and he was banned from DU. Unfortunately he'll probably do it again. If you want me to preemptively stop him from doing it again, you're pretty much asking me to solve the global trolling crisis.

The old advice about not feeding trolls is still the best advice. This thread being exhibit A of doing the exact opposite.
