Report: Pope Francis Is ‘In The Crosshairs Of ISIS’

August 29, 2014 1:30 PM

Pope Francis waves as he leads the weekly general audience at St Peter’s square on Aug. 27, 2014 in Vatican City.

VATICAN CITY (CBSDC/AP) — A new report claims that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is targeting Pope Francis — a report that the Vatican says is simply not true.

According to Il Tempo, Israeli sources reportedly told the Italian newspaper that the pope is “in the crosshairs of ISIS.” The report stated that Francis is being targeted because he is “the greatest exponent of the Christian religions” and the “bearer of false truth.”

The Vatican, though, denounced the report.

“There is nothing serious to this,” Father Federico Lombardi S.J., a Vatican spokesman, told Catholic News Agency. “There is no particular concern in the Vatican. This news has no foundation.”

The Catholic News Agency reports that Italy has issued a nationwide terror alert, despite no imminent threats or specifics about a potential attack on the country.

Of course the Vatican isn't going to acknowledge this (publicly, at least), because to do so would be to say, 'ISIS has power over the Catholic Church.'  Privately, OTOH, I'm sure that the Secret Service (and at least the Germans and Israelis) has been asked to provide support to the Italians on possible terrorist threats.

 :lmao: :lmao:

Perhaps some evil person [?] will start a rumor that Isis has targeted the WBC for their views on non -- to them Christian behavior.

This should put some bad ideas into the walnut size brains of the supporters of Isis and keep the WBC at home hiding in their cellars, buying guns, tons of survival food and cast iron Chastity  Belts for the woman, cast iron neck collars for the men, or thick leather for protection.

Poor Pope Frank, ST. Benard  said the road of good intentions can lead to Hell and here we have a Peoples Pope who has to stay alive and functioning in a Prison controlled by the "GOOD OLD BOYS" that will kill to keep all their worldly  goods, ego and fame.

I have heard that the rope of control over the Pope was tightened by restrictions placed on him because It was {UNFAIR} for him to place tension or more work on his guards by continuing to move about in public meeting and greeting His Flock.

I wonder just how many times in the last year the Pope has been able to play golf, head out for a burger or to a ribs joint.  Just drive around town by himself, stop at a bar and lift a pint of ale.
