RS is eight months from Unclehood
« on: July 08, 2008, 01:41:58 PM »
Brother and new SIL (married in early June) already in a family way.  :-)

Bro just sent me a link to indicate he's already thinking hard about raising this kid right...
http://thegeneralinformationblog.blogspot.com/2008/05/how-to-guide-for-parents.html

Lemme tell ya. That's a load of my mind.  :p
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

Congratulations.  Just remember, all kids (whether yours or not) eventually grow up and kick you in the slats.  It's the nature of the little beasts.

(I became an uncle at the tender age of seven)

Congrats RS!  I have three nephews and I love the little boogers.  :)  They're a joy and you aren't responsible for raising them.

Music to my ears.  :lmao: I've been "Uncle" to my best friends niece, now 4, since she was 2. It's great to get all the love and fun and none of the responsibility, LOL.

Update: Wedding pictures...

(informalish State Park affair, pastor was a long time family friend)

Little Bro and new Sis, first dance as a married couple. Dirty Dancing remake, lol. (they were good)

You can see why the baby came so soon. :uhsure: Early June wedding, early February due date!  :naughty:

Congrats!

Let nothing frighten you.

God alone suffices.

I love being an aunt. Like Mia said, when they get unruly or need a change, it's nice to be able to pass them back to mom and dad.  :-)

It was a big joke in my family how my aunt and uncle were married on March 26, 1949, and my aunt delivered their first child December 29, 1949.

Congratulations, Rearden.  :)

I love being an aunt, and as others have said,  you can spoil your nieces/nephews, but the responsibility to take care of them remains with the parents.   :-)    (Although, I certainly wouldn't mind watching Charlie for a few days ).

My brother-in-law has been pouting ever since I bought Charlie a shirt that says "Don't Look At Me, That Smell Is Coming from Daddy."    :lmao:   Sis thinks the shirt is hilarious.

If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

And most especially, when they were younger, I bought the loudest most annoying toys, Chicken Dance Elmo for instance.

I can never have children now, they will totally take their revenge on me.

Thanks all. At this early stage it's just fingers crossed for a happy healthy kid. Then the spoiling begins.

I know refer to my friends kid (lovingly) as my "practice niece". As for annoying gifts, I could be in for it myself one day as I bought little Emma a chia pet, bird house (build yourself) and birdseed as well as an Alvin and the Chipmonks movie CD.  :-) :-)

Well I have my own funny story. My husband and I had been married for 8 years when I had business in San Francisco and invited him to come with me. Needless to say with two children at home and now being child-free, we rarely left the hotel room for 2 days.  :evillaugh:

Anyway, this was around St. Patty's day of 1998, Sophia was born by scheduled c-section on December 3.  :uhsure: They usually take them 1-2 weeks early.

My husband felt used and abused, he felt like he was tricked into the third child... against his will, kicking and screaming all the way.  :lmao:

My husband always complained about the lack of practice time.  :-)

Pffpt! Mr. Belle told me we could have a child. We've been practicing for almost 10 years now. A lot! I found out that he had a vasectomy.

*okay, I knew that all along. We just like to joke with people about that. :-)

Congrats RS!!! You'll be a great uncle.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Out of all of my kids, I see my nephews the most often.
