Is Omaha Steve about to kick the bucket?

He seems to be hinting, in his usual clumsy fashion, that he's about to drop dead, and that he wants a DU forum to be named in his memory.

Two red roses across the moon (no daisy a day dear)

Marta and I met in Mrs Brown's (a good democrat) history class in Sept 1973. I had a past. I was a rebel rouser before we became a couple. She had never been kissed. I would have probably spent a life of in and out of jail or be dead long ago if not for her. She knows. Through good and bad, we have been us for over 40 years now. We turned out to be two red roses across the moon.

She has an eye for beauty. I still have an eye for her. When I call home on my cell phone, the photo is Marta with our 3 dogs around her.

We have always thought our golden years would be spent on the deck watching the birds and nature in our back yard, Margarita in hand. Winters in front of a fire watching the snow fall, or just enjoying watching TV together.

It ain't going to happen that way. I was diagnosed last December, just before Christmas. That is why I'm retiring early near the end of the year. Some days it is a very hard struggle just getting through the work day. I owe progressives that passed the FMLA more than most could understand.

I'll be leaving the DU in the future, not by choice. I'll tell more when I actually leave.

Now I know why people put their names on things before they go. I've intentionally cut back on posts in the Labor Group to see how it will do in the future. It will go on. Omaha Steve's Labor Group has a nice ring to it.

In the last month we have bought a few things at estate sales I consider my swan song for her. A month ago it was King Tut visits the US commemorative panels: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rRlT88dfklA/TyCs3hJSHAI/AAAAAAAAB1A/qrFpGJKN0FA/s1600/king+tut+9.jpg

Over, but not out yet,

And this stained glass yesterday:

Then he posts a bunch of pictures that I guess are from his favorite cartoon.

A few months ago, the big guy said he was retiring early because of changes in the Omaha city employees' pension plans.

He needs to stick with his original story, not tell a new one every time he posts.

If this version's true, it's of course sad and tragic.

But one's less inclined to believe it because of his previous allegation.

Maybe he got tired of being accused of trying to board the gravy train and is making it look like he is truly disabled, or will be soon.

If he's going to die, I'm sure that it will be a long drawn out affair with about 6 million posts thanking Obama and all the other wonderful democrats before he finally drops dead.

Well, the big guy's got to stick with the same story.

He's retiring early because (a) of changes in the Omaha city employees' pension fund or (b) he's ill.

One naturally hopes it's the former, and he makes the latter, if it's true, more difficult to believe because he already told something else earlier.

It wouldn't surprise me if that worthless Cleveland ward heeler, pronounced dead by the CalPig a couple of months ago, outlives the lazy big guy.

But the lazy tub of lard has had crooked union doctors working to put him on disability for a long time.

He was riding in that little catbird seat back and forth over the main Omaha sewage intake lagoon, fishing out drowned rats and used condoms for years, having reached the pinnacle of his city career.

Then the crooked union doctors got him transferred to an easier, less odiferous job, scrubbing puke from the backseats of Omaha police cruisers.

Now he finally got a crooked union doctor to give him a first class ticket to the gravy train.

His terminal diagnosis?

"If you don't stop eating like a hog, you're gonna die."

Then again, maybe he spotted a tall, thin guy with unfashionably long hair peering from behind a tree in his backyard.

After all, he does live in Nebraska.

Trust me, I'm gonna nag about it.

Boiled down, the real issue here is that the big guy told one story a few months ago, and now he's telling a different story, about why he's retiring early.

If this current story's the truth, which one hopes isn't the case, why'd he lie the first time?

Now one sees why I have Great Difficulty believing anything a primitive says.

I, for one, don't believe it. Not one bit. If he was really going to kick the bucket he would be on DU telling about his terminal illness in great detail.  It is just the way he is.

I could be wrong... but I'm betting that he gets on the disability gravy train, begs for money for his "burial" and then "leaves DU" only to return under some other DU screen name.

WTH? Did he do another post and run? I don't see any replies from him after the OP.  Maybe that was his swan song and the next post will be by Marta.

Yeah, I'd put my money on that, even assuming he didn't accidentally get someone else's diagnosis under the assembly line medical care system his heroes brought to life.

BTW, Steve-o, it's 'Rabble-rouser.'  Rebels don't need to be roused, they're already rebelling, and 'Rabble' is a much more accurate description of the dim-witted losers you were running with in any case.

Wow! So his whole life boils down to wanting to have an obscure forum on a kook website named after him.

In the unlikely event it's true, let's hope he lingers long and hard, and posts daily until the end.

The only problem is the big guy is sooo poor at expressing himself, he'd make even a gory, gruesome demise a boring read.

Sometimes I think the big guy is as boring as sparkly Mike.

Steve isn't sick. No way.  I think there is another reason.
Steve is a union man and therefore LAZY.

His disability scams failed and he was forced to work with the cops...who won't put up with union goldbricking. As a consequence Steve is retiring the moment he is eligible. And finally he will get paid for not working--his lifelong dream finally realized.

35. My dear Omaha Steve...

You look good to me, still.

Kiss of death. The CalPig is wrong 100% of the time.

She congratulated the walrus on a post that ruined his wallduded life.

She pronounced the useless ward heeler WC Green dead, and he's too lazy to die.

Now she says the big guy looks good. Massive coronary coming up.

No, I think he's just being melodramatic again. His wife has the same obsession with death, they had that cemetary page on the graveyards of Omaha, or something like that.

On one of his FB pages, Steve implies he's going to be around at least until this September:

Steven E Dawes This is a Board Game Cafe here in Omaha that's opening up in September. And no, I'm not one the entrepreneurs of this establishment, but I've been hired on as a manager. I've waited for something like this to open in the Big O all my life and I'm really exited to be a part of it.

I don't know if he's really "exiting".

After stirring up the DUmmies like this, seems to me he's sort of obligated to end it.

All those autographs from 1960s and 1970s TV show bit players should make one hell of an estate for his family.
