If Brown was a suspect in a robbery, why is it coming out now when the cop's name is officially stated?

41. I do not have cable. Where are the cigars?? I saw no boxes of cigars laying on the sidewalk. He was laying there for hours, with absolutely no cigars. Could be that he bought his clothes at the same big and tall store as another big and tall black dude that wears shorts and sandals in the summer. Regardless, there was no execution order pending, so, I have no idea how this absolves the cop of the killing. A kid steals some cigars, so, shoot him? The cop did not have time to view a video first.

BUT- the police officer got the suspect's name and description... which matched...

25. First off...I don't believe for one nano second about the robbery suspect spin.

There would of been other officers present or called in before making contact with Michael Brown. Additionally, officer Wilson would of been out of the squad car with gun drawn instead of siitng on his ass and grabbing the kid through his window.
Secondly, officer Wilson shot unarmed Brown 35 feet away from the car, in the back. Lethal force not indicated regardless of what a suspect may of done.

Yeah, maybe on TV. However if the patrol is simply looking for the suspect and sees them, then calls for back up, odds are that back-up won't be there in time. Of course you don't really know what happened. You are just spinning it to fit your view of the world (cops are bad)

4. Link please The only place I'm seeing that is some right wing blog that says that's the reason he was stopped......which would mean the cops were lying this entire time saying they just wanted him and his friend to walk on the sidewalk. So which is it? Are they racists or are they liars?

There is a whole press statement report from the chief of police, dipshit. Look for it. It is out there.

There are two witnesses who say that Brown was not doing anything to the cop, as the cops are now trying to say. Things just don't add up to me. But it seems like robbing a store does not call for being shot dead in the street.

maybe, just maybe the Police were conducting an investigation into what really happened before jumping to conclusions...

I saw where their lawyer was complaining that the cops were just trying to bring up his past as justification. The lawyer was making it sound like the theft and assault happened years ago. I looked at my wife and said, "Yeah! They're trying to focus on his past. Stuff that happened less than an hour before instead of focusing on how he'd turned his life around after walking out of the door of the store! Plus, he's just a gentle giant. I know because they told me so. He probably was just getting those cigars to donate to a homeless man and intended to come back later to pay for them."

The officer who shot Ferguson teen Michael Brown stopped Brown and another teen because they were walking in the street, not because of a robbery a few minutes earlier, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said Friday afternoon.

Jackson said the officer was aware cigars had been taken in the robbery of a store nearby, but did not know when he encountered Brown and Dorian Johnson that they might be suspects. He stopped them because they were walking in the street, Jackson said.

But Jackson told the Post-Dispatch that the officer, Darren Wilson, saw cigars in Brown's hand and realized he might be the robber.

Jackson also addressed concerns about his release of information about the robbery at the same time he released the name of the officer at a press conference Friday morning.

Jackson said he released the security video from the liquor store because news organizations had been requesting it under the Freedom of Information Act.

Asked by reporters why he released the tape, he said, "Because I had to. Too many people put in (freedom of information) requests for it."

Wilson, who suffered facial injuries into the attack, has been an officer for six years and has had no disciplinary action taken against him in the past, Jackson said.

The attorney for Brown's family said police are trying to assassinate the victim’s character by saying he committed a robbery that day, according to the Associated Press.

The attorney, Benjamin Crump, says Brown’s parents are “incensed” by what he calls “the old game of smoke and mirrors.” He says the family was blind-sided by Friday’s announcement.

Crump says “it’s bad enough they assassinated him, and now they’re trying to assassinate his character.”

Another attorney for the family, Anthony Gray, said Brown was killed while "displaying a universal sign of surrender" with his hands up.

The 'kid' robbed a store and assaulted the clerk, then after being stopped by police ASSAULTED the officer.

Also named as a suspect in the robbery is Dorian Johnson, 22, a man who has said he was with Brown when he was shot.

The document release includes surveillance images of the robbery, showing an employee being attacked.

An unidentified employee had just come out of the restroom and come to the counter when she observed Brown telling a clerk he wanted several boxes of cigars, the reports say. The name of two employees have been redacted from the report:

"As (redacted) was placing the boxes on the counter, Brown grabbed a box of Swisher Sweets cigars and handed them to Johnson who was standing behind Brown. (Redacted) witnessed (redacted) tell Brown that he had to pay for those cigars first. That is when Brown reached across the counter and grabbed numerous packs of Swisher Sweets and turned to leave the store. (Redacted) then calls '911.' Meanwhile (redacted) comes out from behind the counter and attempts to stop Brown from leaving. According to (redacted),(redacted) was trying to lock the door until Brown returned the merchandise to him. That is when Brown grabbed (redacted) by the shirt and forcefully pushed him back in to a display rack. (Redacted) backed away and Brown and Johnson exited the store with the cigars."

The lawyer for Johnson, who was walking with Michael Brown when Wilson fatally shot Brown, said Johnson told authorities about the cigar theft earlier this week.

“He told them about the cigarillos and that Big Mike took cigarillos,” said the lawyer, former St. Louis Mayor Freeman Bosley Jr.
