Big Mo gets some vintage booze

so, vintage spirits.

long story short i was gifted a bunch of brown liquor in sealed bottles.

one of the labels, on a bottle of 12 yo kentucky bourbon, has a date of 1967.

there is a bottle of canadian club with a very old label. says imported, no warnings, etc.

couple other bottles. some scotch, some canadians.

i tried to search ebay, but got a lot of empty bottles.

anybody have any idea what this stuff is worth?

all pristine labels and slightly worn seals.

1. I don't know, but I have an un-opened bottle of brandy from 1887.

2. I don't deal in bottles.

Several years ago we had some that we couldn't identify. I googled bottle collectors/buyers, picked one out and sent an email with pix. He promptly answered with prices and likely dates all for no charge. He said he only charged if he had to do a lot of research. I do not remember which site it was ...sorry
 
You might want to try a few of them and see if you encounter a similar friendly soul. Good luck.

3. Technically, you can't sell it unless you're a licensed liquor dealer.

Thus the empty bottles on ebay. You might go to your local liquor store and ask if they know of any local collectors.

When one of my sisters was born, a friend gave the parents a fifth of Haig & Haig whiskey, in one of those three-sided bottles.  It was one of the most-enduring sights of my childhood, that unopened bottle way up on the top kitchen cupboard shelf.

After my mother died, my three older brothers took it down, but I dunno what they ever did with it, and it's way too late to ask.

Considering that the whiskey was eight years older than this sister, it was then 35 years old at the time.  I don't think it was ever opened, but it seems to me there'd been some evaporation.

Would it have been any good?

Oh, yes, it would. "Haig's Pinch" Scotch is mighty fine, from what I've been told (never tasted it myself), and would compliment a good cigar exceptionally well.

Whiskey can't spoil, and shouldn't evaporate as long as the seal is intact. Its flavor after 35 years would basically be identical to its flavor when it was bottled.

I recall a story recently that they recovered some Whiskey from the Shakelton expedition but unfortunately it had gone bad, if what you say is true then the seal must have been compromised.

But in one of her drunken threads she talked about moving out of her Chicago slum neighborhood.

The filth and vermin that go along with her eyesore property are apparently too much even for her neighbors in the hood.

She's under attack from all sides, in real life due to her neighbor-from-hell lifestyle, and at the DUmp for dropping a dime on her ghetto tenants.

All she wanted to do was brag about having rental property, but inadvertently ended up setting off a firestorm among the DUmpmonkeys.
