CDC Activates Highest Response Level at Emergency Operations Center
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2014/08/06/CDC-Issues-Level-1-Alert-Highest-Possible-on-Ebola-Virus

Quote
Dr. Tom Frieden, the director of the United States Center for Disease Control, announced this afternoon that the agency has elevated its response to the Ebola virus to Level 1-- the highest possible response level. The CDC heightened the level today in response to multiple new diagnoses and scares around the globe.

CDC is on highest alert for Ebola.

And yet we are being told there is NO WAY Ebola can spread here in the U.S. Somehow we are supposed to believe that the doctors and nurses who contracted Ebola in Africa did so because they violated "basic hygiene practices."

And yet we are being told there is NO WAY Ebola can spread here in the U.S. Somehow we are supposed to believe that the doctors and nurses who contracted Ebola in Africa did so because they violated "basic hygiene practices."

Anyone think of the imports from that region ???  Rice being just one of the many thousands of goods that are labeled as coming from the country that buys them, say  product of China or Indonesia ?

Weird laws we have, someone  up in Maine buys a boat in Fl. and registers it to say Argentina for tax reasons, all fish caught from that boat that caught whatever  in the Gulf of Maine is now labeled  Product of Argentina.

So the rice grown in the Ebola region,  textiles, you name it have been handled 5 ways till Sunday until it gets to our shores.

Now to the unloading of the goods that sit on wooden skids that may have come from the Ebola area.   No telling what kind of strange bugs or rodents may have hitched a ride.

Into the transport trucks that go coast to coast in America, time is money and many drivers will not bother to steam down the cargo area between shipments.

Independent truckers that can afford a trailer that is a cold freezer and half way into a long haul  the system goes down, the driver sometimes just says a prayer and keeps going to the delivery drop off point. So say 10% of the cargo is spoiled, the buyers get a discount for the bad stuff such as vegetables and have workers peeling off the bad stuff and in the to those zip lock pre packaged bags it goes.

So who on earth can say anyone in the world is safe from any disease.   I am reminded that for a year or two ago Whooping cough was a concern in the mid west.

Today we have thousands of children if we wish to designate males of 16-17 as such coming here over the border who have survived with no inoculations or system to combat these diseases.

Why is WHO not down there giving every illegal the blue arm of  inoculations when they enter our country or others ????

We in the 18 century screened those that came in from other  ports for disease, Many who came to Ellis Island were turned away and sent home if they had any sign of illness.   Typhoid Mary was sent to prison to protect NYC.

People with TB that is infectious are today sent off to special places to live out their lives in solitude.

Disease mutates, reason we get a flu shot that is different from last years, we have no idea what the mutations  in the Ebola will take.

BUT this is just me, not too smart and have nothing to go on but past history and the century's old little tomb stones that up here stand as witness of whole family's wiped out by Disease that came to us from abroad.

I do want to live long enough to wittiness sight and sounds of the past of callers going street to street to yell out, " Bring out your dead."

Do we really need to worry about Ebola?  I mean I know it's serious but we are no third world country.  I can see if it becomes an epidemic but crap, Influenza kills more people than this.

From everything I've heard, it would take someone intentionally trying to spread Ebola to make it an epidemic here.

We are racing towards 3rd world status with our open southern border and the disease we are letting in unchecked and our government  is seemingly unconcerned by this prospect.

Ebola's only real threat is it has an exceptionally high mortality rate. It is spread by direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids. It is not airborne communicable, nor communicable by touching something previously touched by a person who has developed ebola hemorrhagic fever, as the virus itself is quite fragile, and does not live long on surfaces of objects or even food. Even meat will not be contaminate for more than a few days unless said meat is kept between 90 and 110 degrees F.  In short, we really do not need to concern ourselves greatly about Ebola becoming epidemic in the U.S.

At least, not until Obamacare destroys our health care system, then we'll be as susceptible as any other 3rd world country with no viable health care system.

There is a fair amount of evidence to suggest that the bolded is wrong.  For example, a study was done in 2012 with ebola-infected monkeys and healthy pigs (IIRC) being placed in the same room, but in different cages, so as to ensure that there was no direct contact between the healthy animals and the infected animals.  Guess what?  The healthy animals came down with it.  If there was no direct contact, the only way would be through the air.  Specifically, through microscopic droplets exhaled by the infected animals, and inhaled by the healthy ones.

I just feel like Obama will use this to move on from those phoney scandals.  Makes up a phoney crisis.

More than that. Phony crises result in more and more usurpation of federal authority. In this case, we could possibly see "reasonable limits" placed on travel, among other things. "Temporary" limits which will somehow translate into permanent laws.

Agreed. The Benevolent Government in All Its Eternal Wisdom has nothing but our Well-Being in mind. We can be assured that the Bureaucrats and the Regulation Writers (peace be upon them) will have Prayed to Almighty Allah for the Wisdom and Strength to in all humbleness direct those of us poor unfortunates who aren't nearly as gifted and strong as those up on Top of the Mountain of Humanity towards a better and richer life.

We should thank those who so care for us.

It will spread in aerosols like droplets from a sneeze or cough.  And we all know what caged monkeys do to take out their 'issues' on anything else within range...

They learned that trick from democrats.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Tess, one thing I noticed in the 90's was the number of students that boarded the trains from the Mass. General  area and teaching schools wearing those plastic gloves and not touching anything on the trains be them the hanging on poles and seldom sat down on a seat.

Then came a study in the earl 2000 of what one could get from just going into a grocery store and bare handed  the  bar to guide the cart about the store.

Disease, sent from a sneeze to a tear drop,  body fluids they say, can be sweat or an allergy  with a runny nose.

I read an interesting medical paper that stated that when one had a cold sore it could mutate to herpes if the person had oral sex with another.

Stys in the eye, those that get boils especially those that are baby's, ---- Yes I had a child that that the Doctors all 3 of them  ignored a boil and decided I was a hysterical parent.

Ever have a boil, these things are awful, back in the day the Barbers would cut an ex into the boil to get the head out.

Even into the 70's the old time medication held sway.  So glad I was not a male with some kind of VD,  the poor men that had to go through the Rotter Router   cure that did nothing but bring our home our hero's to cause their wives disease  to the brain at the age of 80.

Growing concerns over 'in the air' transmission of Ebola

By Matt McGrath
Science reporter, BBC World Service

Canadian scientists have shown that the deadliest form of the ebola virus could be transmitted by air between species.

In experiments, they demonstrated that the virus was transmitted from pigs to monkeys without any direct contact between them.

The researchers say they believe that limited airborne transmission might be contributing to the spread of the disease in some parts of Africa.

They are concerned that pigs might be a natural host for the lethal infection.

Ebola viruses cause fatal haemorrhagic fevers in humans and many other species of non human primates.
