Also, do you think it is acceptable to minimize the magnitude of the wrong that is being committing by using the "everybody else is doing it" excuse?

The primitives are denying it, that they think it's okay if others are doing it.

We have seen DUmmies justify many things that Obama has done by saying that President Bush did it first, even though Obama does it ten times more or worse.
