RainDog is dead

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I knew her a little bit in real life - I met her on DU.

A good friend of hers posted about it on Facebook this morning. I messaged the friend and she said that 'RainDog' died yesterday.

She had posted about being in pain, and being depressed in recent weeks.

She was quite a lover of books and music.

This is from a blog that she contributed to:

her Facebook book page:

78. I am floored.

((raindog))

We met after my Mother and I passed out news articles, (mainstream ala nyt) about concerns in the lead up to the war in Iraq, at the local farmer's market.

Later that day she posted about someone handing out news articles at her local farmer's market.

We met for coffee later that week.

I always counted on wise, passionate, yet tempered words when she weighed in on topics.

What a deep loss for our communities (DU and local.)

There's one happier farmer's market out in the world now. The shoplifting has probably dropped off significantly.

116. As the survivor of someone who died unexpectedly, this is not a good question to ask

If you knew her well enough to ask, you'd know the cause of the death or would have been told.

I am very tired of Nosey Parkers demanding to know the cause if my mother's death. If only they had showed that much interest in her while she was living, but no, I'm not going to feed their need for gossip. Cause of death was Nunya Business.
Gonna go with overdose on this one. Probably pills. thoughts?

110. Rest in Beautiful Peace, Dear Raindog

This just cut me to the bone.

She was one of my favorite DUers.

As some of you know, been having a tough time myself and can't be here very much until things get resolved. I know the deep feelings of worthlessness our society heaps on those of us who aren't wealthy or physically perfect.

It kills me that Raindog is gone because of politics and social attitudes that degrade the soul, dehumanize the human, undervalue and undercompensate those who work so, so hard.

Be kind to those you know who are poor and struggling. Send them a few bucks. Get off your high horse and realize they probably work their asses off and your snubbing and judgmental attitudes about their position in life are SOUL-KILLING.

There are many on DU who aren't insufferable snobs, many who will help a fellow person in need, but those of you who are insufferable snobs know who you are. Help somebody else you know who is suffering as Rain Dog suffered. That's what she would want from you right now.

I loved you, RE Paris.

May you find the peace and acceptance you sought but never found in this corrupt, greedy world

to all who knew and loved her.
Snobs? At the island? never! Let's throw money at some sort of vague problem, that should solve it!

I was wondering why I was feeling so good this morning and now I know why. One less worthless DUmbass in the world can only be a good thing. After all, the only good DUmbass is a dead DUmbass. :-)

I saw that earlier this morning, but to be quite honest, while I sort of remembered the name, I came up blank when trying to recall the least little thing about the late primitive.

Just another one of the faceless lynch mob, a lumpenunterprimitiven.

I also went over to the primitive mortuary, and noticed they still haven't put up a memorial thread for the mountain man primitive, the "ThomWV" primitive, who died a few years ago and surely is worth commemorating.

I'm always surprised when the rest of the primitives don't talk about casting a vote in the dead primitive's honor.  It seems like such a thoughtful gesture.

Who?

On edit, I did find this nugget.

225. Why we are/were the Democratic UNDERGROUND...

I guess, compared to Raindog, I'm a late joiner..I came to DU in 2003...

I felt the outrage of the 2000 election. I gasped with fear over the reaction to 9/11/01 and knew that the world would change...

Anybody who questioned Bush's motives was branded...either as unpatriotic or a muslin sympathizer or communist or worse...It was only when I found DU that I found that I wasn't alone...

Oh, you aren't alone. There's way too many of you anti-American, liberals kooks out there.

You know, we ought to consider having someone here mole over there for a little while and be a top notch kook. You know, blend right in. And then in 6 months or so after a thousand or more posts, have some "relative" come on under that user name and declare the primitive dead. Maybe we could get one of our own immortalized. Well, other than Tangerine LaBamba.

Hmmm . . . I can find this DUmmy's linkedin page:

A librarian who spoke both French and Dutch. Sounds like a suicide from the OP but no obit, just yet. If I ever read one of her posts at the DUmp, I don't remember it at all.

I'm sure the lib had friends and family. My condolences to them.

However, I won't be sorry about hearing about the passing of someone who willfully and probably gleefully, aided and cheered on the destruction of this nation.

They sure seem to go fast over at DU don't they? I'm on a few conservative boards and I have yet to hear about the passing away of any members on them.

Did not read it but piss on them, they celebrate the death of good and decent people while celebrating a hedonistic, self destructive lifestyle and then demanding everyone else pony up for the inevitable consequences.
Look at the thread, this person was a stoner by all accounts and in a depressed state (shocking).
What do they do?
They rail against "society" and blame everyone other then the idiot sucking the bong pipe.

**** them and the more that enter eternities boiler room the better sane civilization is.

Well, it would be a blast if one of his fellow Obamaites popped a cap on Lamond's sorry ass, and a lot of decent and civilized people would give him a festive sendoff as he disappeared over the Rainbow Bridge to join the swarms of dead hamsters, gerbils, and housecats.

Trouble is, it's unlikely to happen.

Lamond lives in the dying, festering blue cesspool of Detroit Rock City.

Unlike their far more industrious fellow Obamaites over in Chicago, the Detroit clan is too lazy to even get out and shoot one another.
