DU definitely has my number
« on: July 22, 2014, 08:21:46 PM »
This is not a complaint, though it may sound like one. Kind of the state of things. Every time I start with a new ID on DU, they knock me off within two or three days. I don't really know why. I guess they have an internal IP blacklist.

Seven times I was able to start a new ID. It must be noted that every account was started on different machines and different IP addresses, using different email accounts from four different mail servers (gmail, yahoo, and two non-political domains that I own) among several ISP's. The result?
  • On three of the ID's, I registered without posting. When I tried to make my first post, I got the notice that my registration was suspended.
  • On two of the ID's, I made exactly two posts apiece, each time saying nothing but agreeing with the post without embellishment. The day after the second post each time, got tombstoned.
  • On the other two, I posted for about four or five times. Nothing out of whack, just neutral response. Again, tombstone.
On three of the usernames, I posted from a device, and the other four, my computer. I don't bother faking my computer signature.

I shut off my computer completely every night using a dynamic IP assignment. I confirm the IP changes on the last group, but of course the first three number groups are the same. So the complete IP address always changes day to day for the most part. I am guessing that they have some sort of algorithm that determines the IP address in the three groups and somehow flags them.

To be blunt, this is not a complaint. I am seriously amazed at the obvious paranoia for one thing, but not sure how to play it. I guess Ban spooked them. In any case, I have been concentrating on re-developing my other site, so there is no time to develop to mole. Just interesting to note.

Never use you home computer for a mole. Always use a mobile device with wi-fi and a proxy server.

http://mobileproxy.mobi/

MIRT will watch and see if the user logs in with more than 1 ISP address. Make sure your e-mail is logged to the same 'area' ISP. Always develop a first level mole background for your various information

Name
Home city
Job
Interest
basic history (where born, fav shows, kids, married, etc)

Always reference shit from the 'city you live in' in some of your first posts. Local news preferably linked to whatever OP story is up.
Start a journal and wax all DUmpmonkie about Climate, Unions, Gays (have a kid that is gay), the election, etc.

Good Luck. Good Hunting.

I can't speak for their forum SW (homebrew?), but SW like vBulletin lets Mods see new regs' IPs and lets them look to see if there are multiple users from the same IP. There are also several sites that let users check the location, host, and such for IPs. One also lets users see if an IP is a known spam source.

Call it paranoid if you like, but some discussion sites get 5-100 or more spamsters reg'ing a day. Another site I'm on has recently had some days with more than 100 spamsters reg'ing in single days. Just imagine the @#$% than would deluge a discussion site in a matter of hours without good screening of new regs. One that recently got through "over there" posted their spam in 19 places in a matter of minutes before being stopped (vBulletin has a feature that lets a Mod, in one action, delete every post from a spamster and ban the spamster ... very handy).

One thing not to say in your Profile ... don't give your age as 20-something or 30-something and then give high school student as your occupation. If you think I'm joking ... I'll bet some Cave Mods have seen this, too. Most spamsters are not very smart or aware of US culture.
