http://www.democraticunderground.com/115743686Oh my.
I know, I know. dutch508 and BainsBane are chomping at the bit, waiting for me to finish their story, and I'd really like to get it out of the way, but I'm now on day five of an imminent event, and am not feeling especially creative or literary.
And as the object of this imminent event is (was) primitive-like, I'm not inclined to visit General Discussion for political stuff; it turns the stomach, how people can **** up their lives taking the easy way out of things.

3. I made roasted cauliflower with tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, olive oil
and garlic. It came out great.
We scooped it up with some leftover bread and are feeling pretty ok!

4. I'm doing vegetables all day
A favorite thing to do on the weekends--just make up different vegetable dishes.
I made a new version of my Thai soup, this time putting in water chestnuts and cashews.
Made a big salad with many of the greens from my garden. I still have to add the raw and blanched vegetables to the salad, however.
Making tomato sauce to go with spaghetti squash "pasta." Have lots of delicious herbs to go on top, like oregano and basil. Parmesan cheese.
Later tonight, when it cools down, roasted cherry tomatoes.
The kale/tomato/chicken sausage dish that I made a day or two ago was so good I think I'll try it again, experimenting, of course.

Juggling some family stuff, World Cup is on in the background so I'm setting out finger food, small bites.

7. Roast beef in the crockpot..
veggies and taters thrown in. Gonna make some rice to go with. It's been about 2 years since I've made a roast beef.
We had some really good corn on the cob for the 4th.

8. pasta with shrimp and market bounty
I really loaded up at the farmers market today.
Lotsa rhubarb -- ten pounds
apricots
strawberries
heirloom tomatoes
fresh basil
radishes and scallions
blueberries
sweet corn
kirby cucumbers
tiny yellow pattypan squash
Gotta process some of the rhubarb for the freezer. LOVE my farmers market.

i got kale, shallots, green beans, beets, zucchini, yellow squash, anaheim peppers and corn. i also got some palisade peaches and cherries, which i'll put in a crumble. oh yeah, and tamales.

12. Taco salad, refried beans and honeydew melon
<<<because of the heat and a general miasma, in the manner of the great aunt primitive making supper into a lengthy religious ritual, daintily dined upon one asparagus spear, raw, and one half of a saltine cracker, for supper.
