Oh my.

First up, the husband-hating primitive, even though he's dead:

Older moms much more likely to become old ladies, study says.

Atention, women who were declared to be of "advanced maternal age" even as their bellies swelled with life, who chased after a toddler with more patience than vigor, and who have simultaneously navigated menopause and parented an adolescent: Late-life mothering -- if it occurred naturally at least -- doubles your odds of living to an unusually old age, according to a new study.

Compared with a woman who wrapped up her childbearing by the age of 29, a woman whose last child was born after she reached the age of 33 was roughly twice as likely to survive long enough to outlive 95% of her female peers born in the same year. Women who bore their last child between the ages of 33 and 37 had the best shot at becoming a longevity champion. They were 2.08 times as likely to live to an exceptional age as moms who had no more children after 29. Women whose last child came after the age of 37 were 1.92 times as likely to live so long.

GOOD news for me 'cause I was '39 when first daughter born. But not so 'good' for my daughters, as first born had her first @ age 28, and my 2nd born is due at 26, in 3 weeks!!!

Aha.  A subject dear to franksolich's heart.

Now, there are exceptions--there's always exceptions, no big deal.  My own maternal ancestress had six (all in New York) when she was between 20 and 29 years of age, after which a big gap.  Then she had myself (in Nebraska) when she was 36, and my younger brother (again in Nebraska) when she was 38.  She died at the age of 54.

But generally, usually, most of the time, it's true; women who bear infants late in life seem to live w-a-a-a-a-a-a-y past the usual three-score and ten.  My own family tree bears this out, and I'm happy to see one of my long-held speculations proven true.

I always wondered how children of "old" parents compare with children of younger parents; I for one have no recollection of either parent without grey hair (my father was six years older than my mother, and died a year before she did).

When growing up, surely I must've noticed a vast discrepancy between my parents and the parents of friends, but if I did, apparently it was so unimportant that I forgot all about it.

Anyway.

It's good to see Big Mo's recovered her equlibrium, after those rather rude and unwarranted attacks on her by lumpenunterprimitiven, swine that aren't even good enough to lace her boots:

12. i have been assuming another 30 years on my sentence on this rock.

my mom made it to 89, and my aunts made it as far as 90. mom had my baby sis at 43. i had my baby at 39

tough enough for 60. s'pose i'll have no choice about 90.

But if I were Big Mo, I'd pause to remember something.  The promiscuous overuse of pharmaceuticals leads to all sorts of other ailments, and a shortened life-span.  Her parents, and franksolich's parents, of course were exposed to no such hazard.

If I were Big Mo, I wouldn't assume too much.

Unless her daughters are only planning to have one kid each, that doesn't connect to the parameters in the study at all.
