Back when Randi Rhodes was a bit more popular (!) and had a sizable forum, there were occasional fan group meetups, and I actually attended one at Tequila Jacks, way back in 2005. I was either BantheGOP or DestroytheGOP, I forgot what I used back then, in the Randi Rhodes forum. After all, this was during the time of Bush's 2nd reelction, with the Iraq war.
Anyway, I turned out to be the life of the gathering. Everyone there was a leftist, but they had met NOBODY with as extreme leftist views as Ban (or Destroy) the GOP. More specifically, I actually not only had positions, but actually told them HOW to do it. I have read (and internalized) Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, so it was very easy to thread a narrative on how to destroy capitalism, render the Constitution meaningless in its present form with specific elimination of the 2nd and 10th amendments, eliminating state control in favor of a centralized federal taxation focus. I even ventured into actually changing the name of the "United States of America" to the "Progressive American Democracy."
It was a blast, playing the part of a radical in front of approving idiots. I left the party at the appropriate time, cycling away on my 10-speed to a chorus of waves ("I abhor giving Haliburton one red cent in oil profits!" I think I said).
Obviously, one can't be as eccentrically crazy as I portrayed at a DUmmie-fest, but it still can be interesting.
