Cochran has defeated McDaniels in MS
« on: June 24, 2014, 11:17:47 PM »
Looks like Cochran was able to successfully steal the primary in MS.  This Establishment loser actually encourages Democrats to come out and vote for him in the Republican primary.

I wonder how many conservatives will sit at home in November.

Why would conservatives vote for someone who used the Democrat playbook?   In the apartments near my house in November 2012, they distributed flyers about Romney taking away welfare and food stamps.  My polling place was packed with people, who I'd never seen before, even more pronounced than 2008.

Now the establishment Republicans are using the same tactics.

I know it's been said so much that it's become a cliche, but they really are one and the same. Frankly, I think the GOP are fine with the way things are as long as they get theirs. Sure they'll rattle their sabres, show their teeth, but in the end they always roll over to get a belly scratch from their liberal buddies. Scum, every single one of them and less than human.

Well, the MS run-off election is probably going to be contested, since registered Democrats were not supposed to vote in this one. Supposedly, Cochran ran scare ads in heavily (D) areas, warning voters that the Tea Party was dangerous.

Regardless, it's not some remarkable feat to have a 30+ incumbent senator eke by in a run-off. The Tea Party candidate won that seat in Florida but that race didn't have the national scrutiny this one did. Thad really should've just retired, he is way past his peak.

Oh, is that true?  The dems weren't supposed to vote in this one?  The whole thing disgusts me, getting the other side to come out.  It's a fine way to lose in the general, asshole.  What is it with this 80 year old codger desperately gripping onto power?  He's long past the sell-by date, and he's just like any other gimmecrat.

There were quite a few irregularities last night.

Cole said the most likely error in favor of Cochran could be where Democrats who voted in the June 3 Democratic primary were allowed to vote in the GOP primary runoff on Tuesday. “That’d be the very first thing I’d look for,” Cole said. “And that’s the easiest error that poll workers can make—whether it was an honest error or deliberate, I wouldn’t know. But that’d be the most common error that happens in a runoff—where voters who weren’t qualified because they participated in the other party’s primary would be allowed to vote by mistake.”

Cole is the democratic party state chairman....and he says this....

“If enough questions are raised to create a reasonable doubt about enough votes—the status of the law is the voter’s intent, if the voter’s intent can’t be determined after an inspection—then the court has the power to order a new election, sure,” Cole added.

Cole added that any and all illegal activity that may have happened should “absolutely” be prosecuted. “I would say that if my brother were involved, if anybody I know was involved,” Cole said. “If there was any illegality, then they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law—regardless of who it is or who it favors or who it disfavors. Integrity in our elections is paramount. If people don’t believe in elections, they won’t participate in the process—and that defeats the whole purpose of having elections. People have to trust the integrity of the process.”

I guess they figure the democrats have a better chance against a new comer. One that plays fair or at least hasn't learned how to cheat yet.

They need to go to those heavily democrat districts that went big for Cochran and compare who voted in the dem primary to who voted in the gop one. They might not even have to compare names to prove fraud. If more total votes were cast in any precinct than there are registered voters, then there's the proof. (by total voters, I mean counting the dem and gop primaries together.)

I heard the robo call on Levin's podcast.  Everything was "Tea Party" this and "Tea Party" that no mention of Cochran...just come out and defeat the Tea Party Candidate.  Oh and a mention at the end that the ad was paid for by the U.S. Chamber of Crony Capitalism.

And the hell of it is...Cochran plans to only hold the seat for two years and retire.

Cochran won by 1 pt.  9 pts came from democrats

Quote
* He convinced black voters to be for him. According to the Fix's Philip Bump, runoff turnout in the 24 counties with a black population of 50 percent or more was up almost 40 percent from the primary. In all other counties, turnout was up just 16 percent.  That is an absolutely stunning stat -- and tells much of the story of the runoff.  Cochran's ability to convince a strongly Democratic constituency to be for him -- despite the fact that every Democratic consultant believed McDaniel gave the party a better chance to win the seat in the fall -- is simply remarkable.

I'd love to hear what he actually said, because God forbid you criticize someone in this country who's the wrong color and they bring out the firing squad.

In a last-ditch effort, Cochran reached out to traditionally Democratic voters — blacks and union members — who could cast ballots in the runoff. That possible factor in Cochran's victory is sure to be cited by critics in days and weeks to come.

In predominantly black neighborhoods of Hattiesburg's south side, an organized effort for Cochran was evident. Ronnie Wilson, a 50-year-old unemployed Hattiesburg man, said he had been encouraged by his pastor to vote for Cochran.

'They say the other guy is trying to cut food stamps and all that,' Wilson said. 'I'm trying to look after the majority of people not working.'

Stupid ass.  How about you research the truth instead of being told what to do?

Here is the clause that could help McDaniel launch a challenge:

Quote
2013 Mississippi Code
Title 23 - ELECTIONS
Chapter 15 - MISSISSIPPI ELECTION CODE
Article 17 - CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS
B AFFIDAVIT BALLOTS AND CHALLENGED BALLOTS
§ 23-15-575 - Participation in primary election

Universal Citation: MS Code § 23-15-575 (2013)

No person shall be eligible to participate in any primary election unless he intends to support the nominations made in the primary in which he participates.

but it's never been done before. I think he should pursue it and Mississippi ought to close its primaries entirely.

Do we have anyone from Mississippi on the Cave? I hope they don't plan on supporting Cochran.

I'll be laughing my ass off if he loses in the general election.  There's no difference between a big government Republican and a big government Democrat, other than the fact the Democrat will be waving a rainbow flag with aborted fetuses on it.
