Hey, Father's Day is this Sunday....so a very happy Father's day to all the Dad's here.
My dear Dad passed away many years ago, so I thought I'd tell you a little about him. I miss him still.
Loved him to pieces, my dear Dad.
Spun many tall tales with his gift of gab.
Lightness emanated from the stories he told.
A welcome contrast from our gloom & drab.
Remember the character Johnny Nolan?
Kind of like our Dad.
Laughter, sorrow, stupor, brightness & so much more.
Unsteady, tipsy, winding his way home.
One last stop to pick up food from the local store.
Those Saturday night treats still fresh in my mind.
Five ravenous kids devouring a feast rarely had.
Salami, bologna, bread, sodas, pies.
All because he cared enough & because he was our Dad.
A natural homeopath, he saved my life when I was six.
Mom weak & unresponsive he knew just what to do.
Plenty of good times were shared all round.
Our dear Dad, forever remembered, forever true.
