BLUF: Hillery should be president 'cause she is a girl, or something.

I am pretty far left, but I am not worried about "Hawk and Militarist" Hillary Clinton in 2016.
The Left Ought to Worry About Hillary Clinton, Hawk and Militarist, in 2016
Here's why I'm not "worried".
Hillary Clinton wants to be president. She's wanted to be president for a very long time. In order to become president, you have to (a) want it very badly and (b) say and do things which will help you to win. Among other things.
Once you become president, as we all know, you often either cannot or do not follow through with some of your pre-election rhetoric.
When you're a woman trying to do something no other woman has yet done... Well, let's just say I take Hillary Clinton's "Hawkishness and Militarism" with a grain of salt. She needs men to vote for her as well as women. And many men have this idea ingrained in their brains from a very early age that women are weak. Can't have that in a commander-in-chief. So, since she wants to win, she does what ANY woman in the same situation would do. I'm telling you right now, if Elizabeth Warren really wanted badly enough to become president, she would find some way to get some foreign policy experience, get on some kind of armed forces committee or something, and she would be talking and acting very "Hawkish and Militaristic." She's not stupid, and neither is Hillary Clinton.
What Hillary would do once she became president, I cannot say. But I don't buy the idea that what she has to do in order to become president, will of absolute necessity be her continuing philosophy once elected. Nor do I think that any man who may run in the primaries will be much less hawkish on foreign policy, because there's still a well-cultivated (by the GOP), ignorant belief out there that Democrats in general are "weak on foreign policy."
As I said before, I'm pretty far left. If I have a choice between Hillary and someone else who I sincerely believe better reflects my values, in the primary I'll be voting for that other person. But I do believe it's high time we had a female president, and even if that means another 4-8 years of centrism, I'll gladly vote for her when the time comes - if it comes. I won't just be voting against the GOP candidate.
I have to say, seeing this thread attacking Hillary Clinton this early in the game, on Democratic Underground, on this particular subject... well, the word "disingenuous" comes to mind.
Wow.

1. I'm not worried about it either, she won't be president. No Democrat who remembers her support
for Bush's criminal wars will vote for her. Anyone who made such a grave error in judgement when even ordinary Americans knew Bush was lying, should not be in a position to make any more such deadly errors of judgement.
I hope we get someone we can vote FOR this time, if not, I will focus on Congress where no matter who is in the WH, the people's Reps can keep in check
.
so... Hillery won't be President and it's Bush's fault?

74. Remind me when Hillary voted for those Wars?
Now, remind me when 17 million democrats voted for her to be President?
If you think voters are going to hold against her a vote taken more than 10 years ago over a war that's ending, you're dreaming.

2. Well, I have to say, my dear Flying Squirrel, that you have given me something to consider here.
It's possible that you might be correct...
And you know I do not want the Republicans to win the White House. That would be an unmitigated disaster.
Thank you for your clear and lucid thinking.
Calpeg is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo....... Franks mole.

32. I would love to see Warren or Sanders run, of course.
Lists of others pop up here. Really, I am hoping for someone who is a least a little bit not in Wall Street's pocket.
I am waiting to see who gets blessed by the DNC, really.
I hate the Hillary is inevitable crap, and I was a Hillary supporter in 2008, but the more I find out about her, the more I do not support her.
And, as a woman, I could care less about Hillary being a woman. That goes against all my ideas of being a woman - voting for someone whose policies I do not like, just because she is a woman.
Also, for me, there is a vast gulf between voting for the lesser evil, and supporting someone.
The only presidential debates I would probably bother watching are GOP debates, for the horrific entertainment value.

29. +10000 Absolutely stunning in these exchanges is the acknowledgement by the supporters of Hillary that they fully expect and approve of her LYING to voters throughout the campaign.
How disturbing is that.
Par for the course with leftists. It's now about truth, it's about 'feelings'

67. This is just more of the "Clinton is a liar" crap.
Yet her progressive rating is amongst the highest in the Democratic Party...
But I agree swooning over speeches is just plain silly. Obama's nomination speech pretty much set the groundwork for his policies throughout his administration. And he's lived up to those promises. Increasing the drone wars, getting Bin Laden, cutting the deficit... the list goes on.

47. We've been told since 2012 by every Democratic politician, every pundit and every MSNBC host
that the Democratic nomination is Hillary's if she wants it and, if she wants it, no one will challenge her: she will
"clear the field." So who else would a majority of Democrats profess to support?
Besides, I bet at least 50% of Democrats never heard of the DLC. We on political message boards regularly tend to forget that most people in the country are not consumed with this stuff. The voting turnout alone should remind us of that
.

14. She will be left of Obama.
Particularly 2008 Obama.
She will also have a very liberal VP selection and most DUers will swallow the pill to vote for her in support of the VP pick. Some of the more vile will hope she dies in office and will probably say as much.
