Nobody Ever Gets Fired
« on: May 28, 2014, 09:28:56 PM »
It is very frustrating when we repeatedly hear from President Obama that he is ¨mad as hell¨ at the latest scandal and that he plans to get to the bottom of it.

An important role for good leaders is to fire people when they are not doing their job.

Abraham Lincoln was famous for firing his top generals for failing to do their jobs. Before settling on a winner in Ulysses Grant, Lincoln fired Irvin Mcdowell, George McClelland (twice), John Pope, Ambrose Burnside, and Joseph Hooker.

During World War II, General Dwight Eisenhower fired generals on a regular basis. Officers who could not do their job were not acceptable. The success of the mission demanded that they leave.

When George Bush was president, he let Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld go for bungling the war in Iraq. He let FEMA Director Michael Brown go for bungling the Hurricane Katrina response.

President Obama seems incapable of finding anyone responsible (starting with himself) when things go wrong.

For example:

* Operation Fast and Furious gun walking scandal - Nobody was fired, even though Attorney General Eric Holder was found in contempt of congress
* Spying on AP reporter phone calls - Nobody was fired
* Kathleen Sebelius violated the Hatch Act - Cabinet secretaries are not allowed by law to make partisan speeches when acting in their official capacity. Nobody was fired
* IRS tea party profiling - Nobody was fired
* Benghazi deception - Nobody was fired
* Obamacare website fiasco - Nobody was fired
* Veteran Affairs failure to provide life saving health care to veterans - Nobody was fired.

The problem is not just the quality of federal workers but also the quantity of federal workers.

Lincoln ran his White House with two secretaries. By the time Franklin Roosevelt was president, he had 100 White House employees to run a global war involving over 16 million Americans in the military.

With the population now about three times as much in the 1940s, you would expect the White House to have 300 employees, but it has over 1,700.  All of the federal government has grown bloated with out-of-control hiring.

Obama is incapable of firing anyone. He has missed his chance to make a bold step. Staunch anti-communist Richard Nixon opened relations with communist China. Old school liberal Bill Clinton signed the law to reduce excessive welfare. At a time when private industry and state and local governments learned to cut back workers to stay solvent, Obama has made no effort to cut fat and pork.

Real leaders make hard choices based on what is best. They don't whine. They don't pass the blame. They don't avoid responsibility.

How sad. It could have been a great legacy.

It is especially disheartening that the VA scandal went nowhere.  Add to that, Hillary Clinton told her progressive followers:

Quote
...that Republicans have inflated problems at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to make them appear more “widespread."

The reality is, the scandal remains intact, as evidenced by:
#1
Quote
...a veteran who could not eat because of difficulty swallowing experienced a delay in getting care at the Oxnard Community Based Outpatient Clinic at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System in California. The patient later died.  The inspector general also found evidence of delayed care for hundreds of patients requesting consults at the facility.

#2  Marion VA Medical Center in Illinois:
Quote
Nearly all of the licensed independent practitioners the review analyzed did not have appropriate training to perform emergency airway management. Other employees had no proof of required competency assessments.
Moreover, the inspector general found that the facility had no “defined plan” to ensure that a qualified surgeon was available on call around the clock to report to the hospital within 60 minutes.

#3  Alaska VA Healthcare System in Anchorage
Quote
It found that one licensed health care professional at the facility had been caring for patients for six months despite having “expired privileges.” Eighty percent of new employees also had not received suicide prevention training.
The Alaska medical center failed the infection prevention assessment, as clean and dirty items were stored together in 75 percent of the patient care areas reviewed by the inspector general. The facility also had not corrected multiple physical insufficiencies that were identified as long as two years ago.

Switching to politics, Trump came out with a plan.

Quote
“We’re going to take care of those wounded warriors and we’re going to take care of our vets better than anybody.  The plan will ensure our veterans get the care they need, wherever and whenever they need it."

Quote
Trump said that he would institute policies that would see Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities competing with non-VA hospitals. He said that under his plan, any veteran could go to a doctor that accepts Medicare and receive care.

I may be wrong, but it appears that Trump has been the most vocal on our open borders, flood of illegals & refugees, & the poor care of our Vets.  In my opinion, Congress, famous for their Congressional Hearings, gets an A for political theatre, & an F for substance & oversight.

There was not a snowball's chance in Hades owebuma could ever have had a great legacy.
He was wholly unqualified, completely unprepared, unfit, inept, incompetent and on top of it all had an agenda contrary to American excellence.
That you think it's "sad" makes you a sad  individual.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

When Barry says he's mad as hell about something, it's usually a good indicator either he's blowing smoke or he's getting ready to do what he wants and sidesteps Congress; in essence he doesn't really need to fire anyone.
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.
