It struck me how much of it was a comparison of substance vs. no substance, both given equal value.

How many would recognize her picture, until this wall-to-wall coverage of her death?

Kim, on the other hand, is instantly recognizable worldwide.

Her porn video (her only accomplishment and the sole source of her family's fame and fortune) has entertained tens of millions.

The only reason this Angelou woman is important is because the networks say she is.

Her entertainment value is zero, especially compared to the slutty Kimmy.

I remember reading a little of Maya Angelou's stuff, it wasn't bad but just wasn't all that exceptional, it was like she earned 'Poet Laureate' the way Obama earned the Presidency -- by being Black and minimally qualified.  However, she at least has a net positive value though I wouldn't put it particularly high, while the entire lot of the Kardassians are a bottomless pit of actual negative value, exalted for being the poster children of soulless, mindless, superficial materialism and narcissism.

     I liked Angelou better when she was known as Pearl Bailey.

     Anyway, if you read over her bio carefully, you learn a pretty salient fact: that Angelou was never "caged" at all. She just had good writing skills. She was a singer and a dancer before she wrote, and not a very good one.

Back in her day, all Angelou had was grainy 8mm tape. It's no wonder, with that poor quality, that it's virtually impossible to find a copy for sale today.

     I can name two more influential women right off the top of my head: the holy duo of Mrs. Butterworth laying all over Aunt Jemima.

     That's a profoundly influential and compelling two-woman dogpile, far moreso than Angelou.
